A spacious, stylish one-bedroom in the heart of the historic Marais.

Guests in their own words
…our time in Paris was divided between Alexis’ apartment and a 5 star hotel, and we would have happily spent our entire stay in this charming and cozy apartment.
Bill and Beckie L., Nashville, 2017
We've stayed in a number of VRBO places in Europe and the US. This is by far the best. The only downside of staying here is wishing you didn't have to leave.
Debbie D., 2017
The only draw-back of the apartment is that the lovely linen sheets and spacious soaking tub might lull a renter into spending more time inside rather than outside in the Paris streets.
Jennifer C., 2015
The apartment is very roomy for a one bedroom with a large and well-appointed living area, as well as a huge bathroom (for a Paris apartment) with a truly nice shower and a very large bathtub (almost unheard of in this area).
Bill H., 2016
There was concern since the flat is on one of the major streets in the area that noise might be an issue. I can happily say there was no street noise ever in the flat.

The apartment is like staying at your trendy best friend's home…

…some exceptionally lovely antique furniture combined with contemporary comfort. And perfectly quiet.

Perfection in the Marais
This apartment, and it’s host, Alexis, are, simply said, perfection.
It is a quiet haven right in the middle of one of the most authentic and charming neighborhoods in Paris. We went only steps out the door to experience intimate cafes, fresh markets, bakeries, cheese shops and the people-watching that make Paris so magical.
One of the best features of the apartment was the graciousness and accessibility of Alexis and her support staff. Our questions were answered within hours, and when a favorite watch was left behind, we were immediately contacted to make arrangements for it’s return.
All the proprietors in the neighborhood seem to know and admire Alexis, so if you are in special need of anything, you only have to mention her name to receive extra help!
The elevator on the ground floor is a rare and wonderful thing to have, as is the huge bathroom with two lovely sinks and a beautiful large soaking tub. When the November rains gave us a few chilly nights, we were warm and cozy in the comfortable bed.
Our days began with an expresso from the machine in the kitchen and ended with our feet up having a wonderful glass of Bordeaux (the first bottle of which was waiting when we arrived!). From the linen sheets to the organic soaps and bathrobes, it was everything we had hoped for in Paris.
Perhaps the best recommendation we can give is that our time in Paris was divided between Alexis’ apartment and a 5 star hotel, and we would have happily spent our entire stay in this charming and cozy apartment.
We can’t wait to return. Thank you, Alexis!
Wonderful Marais Apartment
This is a perfectly located apartment in the Marais. It also is very quiet, very comfortable and a lovely place to come back to after a day of enjoying Paris. We enjoyed our week there very much. There was not anything about the apartment that we could complain about. We hope that we will be able to enjoy staying there again soon.
Clean, modern, well-appointed, great location
We were in Paris for 5 days on vacation. This apartment was perfect for exploring the city - we walked everywhere (museums, shopping) including some lovely strolls along the Seine. Public transportation was also close by - subway and bus. The apartment itself was great and as promised. It had everything we needed, including a great shower, an espresso machine, and good closet space. It was quiet at night, and we felt very safe (gated entry).
Wonderful Stay!
Terrific apartment. We stayed here with our 20 year-old son who said the pull out couch was the most comfortable bed he had ever slept on. The apartment is located in a wonderful area - we walked all over the city. Alexis was easy to work with and provided many recommendations. We would come back in a nano second!
Very Comfortable
Apartment was very comfortable and felt like home.
Very comfortable spacious apartment in Marais
We only had 3 nights in Paris, although I mistakenly initially booked 4. Alexis very kindly credited me for the night we could not use.
The apartment has excellent security and is very well furnished and comfortable with a large lounge/living area. Every amenity is provided, including basic cooking ingredients (although we did no cooking).
The bed is very comfortable and the bath room spotless and spacious.
There are many excellent restaurants within 20-30 mins walk.
Alexis and the housekeeper were exceedingly helpful and caring.
An excellent apartment for time in Paris. Thankyou Alexis.
We loved our stay in this very tastefully equipped quiet apartment. Cozy with all needs met.
The apt. Is a gem. Excellent location near Place Bastille, many fine local restaurants, bakeries,, and walking distance to a fabulous open market on Thursday and Sundays. Easy Metro access from this perfectly furnished very quiet apt with all necessities provided and new.
Lovely stay in Le Marais
I had a great time staying at Alexis's place in the heart of the Marais neighborhood in Paris. Its a very comfortable place, with a fully stocked kitchen, living room/dining room area, and a great big bathroom. The shower is awesome. Perfect for relaxing after a long day exploring the city. The location is really fantastic as you're close to public transport, or also a lot of great areas within walking distance. Alexis also has great recommendations for restaurants and activities to do around the city, and will definitely help make your stay that much better as someone who actually knows the area quite well! Highly recommended.
Return pleasures
As always, a pleasure to come back to this flat - perfect location. The fans helped a lot with the Paris heat wave.
Best place to stay in Paris
This was my fifth and not last stay to this lovely apartment in Paris. i cannot say enough positive things about the owner, Alexis, who invites you into this picture perfect apartment as though you were her dear friend.
The kitchen is well stocked. Lovely sheets for the bed. Even the pull out sofa is comfortable. There is a dishwasher and clothes washer --fans if it is warm--a large refrigerator and freezer for Euopean standards One may even call home for free as many times as one likes.
The bathroom is large and has a soaking tub and a separate shower with an amazing shower head!
Alexis leaves a blue binder with everything you need to know about the apartment as well as helpful hints about places to go and things to see. Want an idea for a restaurant? She has plenty of ideas in her book. She also has a variety of Paris travel books for her guests to enjoy.
The location is central to everything and as Paris is a walking city, it is easy to get around. Additionally, transportation is just steps away.
I feel like I have another home in Paris and cannot wait to return.
Overall perfect!
We loved staying in this apartment! I stayed there with my three daughters. The apartment itself has very nice - really comfortable beds, an amazing bathroom, and overall just exactly what we were looking for. The location was perfect - safe neighborhood, convenient, great shopping, many restaurants/ cafes, close to a metro stop, bus stop, easy to get a cab as well. Loved the farmers market on Sunday morning, which was probably my favorite experience from our week in Paris! The owner was wonderful to work with - extremely communicative leading up to our stay and made it very easy. She also offered many recommendations which was awesome. Overall I would highly recommend this rental to anyone.
Amazing as Always!
Our third stay in this charming apartment and it truly felt like coming home!
Despite an unanticipated heatwave, Paris as always was fantastic as was the apartment.
Thank you Alexis!
Our second stay in this great Marais apartment!
All the comforts of home here just what we needed after a 26 hour journey from Australia.
Comfy bed, good kitchen, quiet and roomy.
We will be back in 2019.
Steve and Dianne, Ballarat Australia.
Comfort, charm and convenience
Starting with its perfect (for visitors familiar with Paris) location, the apartment was equipped with exceptionally ample storage space, an efficient kitchen, a top-of-the-line bathroom and a bedroom that seemed small but was never cramped.
Although closer to the Bastille than the more chic parts of the Marais, the neighborhood is lively and welcoming, and having the Place des Vosges two minutes from the front door makes every stroll a delight.
Beautiful, spacious apartment in the heart of Paris
We enjoyed staying in this apartment. It was spacious and very comfortable. The apartment was fully stocked, with guide books, coffee, umbrellas, etc. The location was also great - in the Marais area. Communicating with the agent and owner was easy; the owner gave us lots of recommendations in the area. We highly recommend staying here!
High quality comfort in an excellent and convenient location.
This apartment was an ideal home away from home for our 10 day stay in May. It was comfortable, immaculate, well supplied with quality cookware, bedding, appliances, a well appreciated soaker tub, fast Internet and all the comforts. It is situated on Rue de St Antoine, a lively, interesting area filled with shops, cafes, bakeries, outdoor market, metro literally steps away. You will love the convenience and ambiance of this neighborhood. The apartment is quiet and we slept great. The Seine is a short walk away and we walked almost exclusively but did use the metro to go to Arc de Triomphe and took bus 69 to Eiffel Tower. The Little Black Book of Paris in the apartment is helpful for metro connections.
Some things we enjoyed:
Walking along the Seine, Norte Dame, Saint Chapelle Picasso Museum, Pompidou Center, Jewish Museum, Victor Hugo house, Bastille outdoor market (all in the neighborhood)
Walking on Left Bank, Luxembourg Garden, Rodin Museum Muse D'Orsay Louvre, Musee de l'Orangerie Boat ride, Eiffel Tower (walk to 2nd level and there no long lines.)
Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees We had a wonderful time and bought the Museum Pass so didn't have to wait in long lines. Alexis the host is truly outstanding. From the initial contact, she went out of her way to provide information, suggestions, advice - a real insiders view that made all the difference! She even tracked our delayed flight to assure that the housekeeper could meet us and let us into the apartment! With such excellent service and such a quality apartment and location, you can't go wrong staying here. We would love to return and highly recommend this apartment and are so thankful for such a remarkable host.
Wonderful flat in a great location
My wife and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary and also bringing our son for his first visit to Europe. We wanted a nice place in a central location and we hit the jackpot with this wonderful little apartment in the heart of downtown Paris. There is a full kitchen and a very large bathroom. As well there is a living room and dining room, and a separate bedroom to the side. We highly recommend this place and hope to be back soon.
Perfect home away from home in the Paris Marais
We keep coming back to this apartment for several reasons: location, comfort, cleanliness, quiet, and attention to details.
1. You can't beat the location for transportation: Right in the middle of the Marais, on the #1 Metro line between Bastille and St. Paul stops. (The top Paris sites are near the #1) and convenient buses outside the front door!
2. A safe, sweet neighborhood: great cafes and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Or less. Shop like a local for groceries.
3. The apartment is like staying at your trendy best friend's home: A super bathroom with a shower and huge bathtub and 2 sinks! A kitchen with nice plates, flatware and glasses (not cheap Ikea stuff). Fine furniture with a mix of contemporary and antiques. Great linens in the bedroom. The couch converts to an extra bed and is more comfortable than many regular beds! And bathrobes! Beautiful pillows and curtains remind you of a fancy hotel, not a rental.
4. This place is quiet. Incredibly quiet. And super clean.
5. The owner is very responsive and helpful. The welcome binder has instructions on how to use the washer and the dishwasher, plus everything else in the apartment. The list of recommended restaurants is a nice touch. So are the numerous Paris tour books others have left behind.
We've stayed in a number of VRBO places in Europe and the US. This is by far the best. The only downside of staying here is wishing you didn't have to leave.
Perfect location, and very nicely furnished.
It has everything one might need; the owner is very thoughtful, and there are lots of nice touches, both in decor and in provisions for a comfortable stay. While it can be a bit dark, especially in December, since it is on an inner courtyard, that also means it's wonderfully quiet. With great bakery, cheese shop, wine stores, fruit stand, and more just across the street, close to both Bastille and St Paul metro stations, and a ten minute walk to the Seine and yet another line (Sully-Morland) - or just a great base to explore the Marais shops and restaurants. This was our second stay in this apartment, and we were not disappointed.
Over the top AMAZING!!
Wow, this was my first time to Paris and we couldn't have picked a more perfect place to call home for our vacation. From the moment we booked, Alexis & team made sure we had everything before our arrival and had a lay of the land. The flat location is two minute walk from the Bastille metro stop and every restaurant right outside of the door was amazing!! One restaurant not to be missed is Chez Mademoiselle!!
Note, I'd heard the stories of the rude Parisians but we didn't find one and EVERYONE was over the top nice and hospitable.
Au revoir et a bientot C&K
Perfect apartment, perfect location
The apartment was perfect for my husband and myself. It was beautifully decorated and comfortable in size. We loved the full size shower; a rarity in Paris! We also appreciated the pull out sofa in the living room - made it easy to wake up at night and not disturb the other person. Although we didn't use it, the kitchen was fully stocked, and there were thoughtful extras - plug converters, a stand of umbrellas, a bottle of wine waiting to welcome us. All the details involved in the rental were well organized and executed perfectly. We will be happy to rent this apartment again the next time we're in Paris.
The place to stay in Paris!
Location Location Location ; Le Marais - I do not think there is a better place to stay in Paris. Walk to the Metro, numerous shops in the neighborhood, great cafes, near charming Place Des Vosges, go running along the nearby Seine - the list goes on and on. We did not feel like tourists but more like Parisians! The apartment is spectacular. The online photos of the apartment are quite accurate. Very clean and comfortable - a home away from our home. Alexis left us detailed instructions on how to use everything from the modern appliances to the internet phone (great to call the US). She also left a list of restaurants, which we did take her up on, along with recommendations of things to do and places to shop (we received this from her in advance of arriving which helped in planning our stay). She was extremely helpful in responding to our questions prior to our stay. It was really nice to have a shop right next door for some necessities… We would definitely stay in this apartment during our next trip to Paris and I strongly recommend this apartment for your stay. I can assure you will be as satisfied as we were.
Great apt
We loved the location of the apt! On advice from Alexis we went to the Sunday market for cheese, eggs, bread and flowers. It was a bit noisy from neighbors - but this is city living. The bed was very comfortable and the large bathroom made getting ready in the morning easy. Within just a few blocks of the metro station. We'll certainly stay here again should we find ourselves in Paris!
Wonderful Apartment in Paris! Excellent Location
We were lucky enough to stay in this wonderful apartment over the holidays. Paris is absolutely beautiful and this apartment is located in a wonderful area! It was perfect for myself, my husband and two boys 7 and 8 at the time. When you walk out the front door of the apartment onto the street there are shops with amazing cheeses, terrines, fruit, wine and bread. THIS IS PARIS!! You can easily walk to the Seine and Notre Dame and the Place de Vosges in around the corner. We took the Metro everywhere and it was only a short enjoyable walk back to the apartment. Alexis was wonderful to deal with and all the Parisians we met were welcoming. I have already recommended this apartment to friends and family who are planning on taking a trip to Paris. If you are planning on visiting don't miss Sacre Coeur, the Catacombs and a nighttime tour of the Lourve (booked with Viator)!! Have fun and book this apartment!
Great location and great apartment
This is the second time I have stayed at this apartment, and would gladly make it my Paris home again. Well-located in terms of transportation, shopping, restaurants, yet totally quiet, as it's at the back of the building. The owner has decorated it beautifully and leaves it for you well-organized and stocked with immediate needs. I have stayed at many vacation apartment rentals, and this has been easily one of the best ever.
Wonderful apartment in Paris!
We stayed at Alexis' apartment in Paris just a week ago and had a great time. The apartment itself is spacious, with a full kitchen and bathroom (the bathroom has a deep soaking tub; what a luxury after walking all day in Paris!). Beautifully decorated too. And the location was perfect for us; Le Marais, close to shops, cafes and sightseeing, such as the Louvre and Notre Dame. The Bastille Metro is just a short walk down the street so we could go anywhere easily. The next time we visit lovely Paris we will stay there again.
Our Second Stay At the Apartment
If possible this stay was better than the first, which was also unsurpassed. Alexis and her team were amazing, From our first communication through check-in, everything went perfectly smoothly, and the apartment, which now feels like my home away from home, was equipped with absolutely everything one not need, spacious and adorable, easy to navigate and fantastically located , Steps away from countless boulangeries, fromageries, cafes, bistros, the market, two metro stops and of course the Marais and St. Paul, I couldn't ask for anything more.
Thank you again Alexis!
Lovely apartment, centrally located
The apartment and the neighborhood were lovely, very central to all we wanted to do, and transportation was easy to access.
The apartment was well appointed, with every amenity considered. Close to Victor Hugo's house and Place des Vosges.
Also appreciated the detailed list of good restaurants and vendors in the area. The owner is well-liked and we were treated by all as though we were old friends. Nice!
The master bedroom was very comfortable, as was the sofa-bed that my teenagers used.
Really - they wanted the name of the sofa-bed manufacturer to replace our sofa-bed at home!
And the bathroom was large - unlike any I've seen in EU. So nice to take a proper bath at the end of a long day of sightseeing.
It was a lovely home base for our Paris adventures. Thank you!
The Perfect Spot in Paris. Really!
Honestly, I could not think of a more perfect place to stay in Paris. I have been to the magical city many times and love exploring its many neighborhoods – and this is the ideal location from which to do so. It is within walking distance of many major sites/attractions, countless top notch restaurants, metro stops, and too many shops to count (yet all worth visiting!). The apartment itself is in a great, safe building and is perfectly appointed with any and everything that you may need or want during your stay: stellar kitchen, culinary tools, TV, high speed wifi, comfy bed, great sitting area, dining table, full length mirrors, closets, spacious bath, and more, all of which are clearly laid out and explained for ease of use. It looks out upon a quiet, sweet garden courtyard. Just book it, trust me. I'll be back very soon!
Outstanding in every way
This apartment is perfect for a stay in Paris for 2-4 people. My wife and I have rented many other apartments in Paris so we have a good basis for comparison. We have now stayed in this apartment several times and we always go back. We feel as if it's our second home in Paris. It is located in the heart of the Marais, which is close to a number of attractions, such as the Musee Picasso, Beauborg, the Latin Quarter and the Louvre. There is easy to access all of Paris because it is within a few blocks to two Metro stations: St. Paul and Bastille. The apartment is very roomy for a one bedroom with a large and well-appointed living area, as well as a huge bathroom (for a Paris apartment) with a truly nice shower and a very large bathtub (almost unheard of in this area). There is an elevator (which is crucial if you have any heavy luggage) and a good staircase. Everything Alexis represents about the apartment on her Web site is absolutely true regarding the location, layout and amenities. Alexis keeps the apartment in perfect condition and it has everything you would need during your stay. There is an excellent kitchen that has every appliance, utensil or piece of cookware you might need, including a dishwasher, a washer-dryer, a coffee-maker, a speedy water boiling tea maker, and a great U.S.-style set up where the kitchen is opened-up to the dining area. Alexis has left a very informative and easy to follow binder about how to use the various appliances, how to make (free!) calls to the U.S. and where to eat in the neighborhood. The apartment itself is extremely quiet, almost no matter what time of the day or night. Alexis and her assistants seem to be always available to help and are always courteous and polite. I give this apartment my highest recommendation to my friends, relative or strangers. I can't imagine wanting for anything else in a rental property in Paris.
Outstanding apt., excellent taste
First rate in every way.
The apt is very intelligently done, with excellent appliances and conveniences, and some exceptionally lovely antique furniture combined with contemporary comfort. And perfectly quiet.
At least two excellent boulangerie nearby, and equally excellent produce. The Marais is no longer the picturesque place it was 50 years ago -- but as a result, if you don't mind the crowds, the boutiques are exceptional. Even the bookstore … is exceptional -- a treasure in the era of disappearing bookstores.
The owner has provided wonderfully accurate instructions on how to operate everything -- espresso machine, laundry machine, etc. There is even a little portable speaker I could have plugged my iPod into if I hadn't brought my own. That thoughtfulness extends to suggestions for dining. My wife and I know Paris well, but we followed two of the suggestions and discovered two places we'll go back to time and again, and recommend to our friends.
This is, I think, the sixth or seventh Paris apartment we've stayed in over many years. We're already thinking of returning in the Spring.
A perfectly located apartment in Paris
We could not have been more pleased with the apartment. It was charming and with all the amenities needed. Lovely bath and convenient kitchen. Private bed room was quiet and looked out on a little garden court. The location is ideal for any tourist - markets are close - and only a few steps to the Bastille metro. Major Paris attractions (the Louvre, Notre Dame, etc) are within walking distance. There are many charming and affordable bistros close by (Au Bouqet St. Paul was our favorite), along with exclusive dining and shopping with the Royal Palace a few blocks away. We loved our stay.
Paris apartment - loved it
This apartment was ideal: great location, well-appointed, comfortable. Nearby area had metro and bus stops, supermarket, restaurants, etc.; yet, once you walked into the apartment, it was quiet and private. Owner and staff were helpful and accessible. Can't recommend more highly.
A winning combination: This fabulous apartment, quiet and comfortable, with a great Paris location.
My husband and I have stayed in a number of VRBO rentals in various cities, and this has to be one of, if not the best, we've had. Some have had excellent locations, some excellent amenities. This has both. Supermarket, bakeries, restaurants, metro stops in the streets nearby; then take the elevator to a totally calm and quiet apartment in the back of the building. Appliances, well-furnished kitchen, a tub and shower as well as a home-like feeling.
Alexis, the owner, and her staff are all in constant communication to answer all questions and make the rental process smooth.
My husband and I would absolutely go back. There are a few steps between the bedroom and living room to be considered for anyone with a physical disability, but my husband and I, aged 83 and 77 respectively, had no problems at all, and there is sleeping accommodation in the living room. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Perfection!
What a perfect home away from home! Clean, comfortable, quiet. All the conveniences - washing machine, large bathroom (two sinks and a big tub), well set up kitchen, lots of helpful guidebooks, a super comfortable queen size bed with nice linens and good pillows. Easy food shopping all within one block. And around the corner, the prettiest square in Paris, Place de Vosges. We felt like we were living in Paris, and not just tourists. All of the recommendations Alexis made were wonderful - go eat at Chez Mademoiselle. And even though we did not want to leave, the list of english speaking cab drivers to call ahead for a 7 a.m. pick up made it easy. We were there for a week, celebrating our life together (yes, you can find real true love after 50). We are already talking about our next trip to Paris.
Great Flat in Marais
The flat is in one of the best areas to stay in Paris. Easy access to several Metro lines, tons of shopping opportunities and loads of interesting food stores and restaurants nearby. Can't be beat.
There was concern since the flat is on one of the major streets in the area that noise might be an issue. I can happily say there was no street noise ever in the flat. Beds are very comfortable, even the fold out! Both the kitchen and bathroom are modern and up to date. House is very clean and well stocked. Highly recommend this flat.
Charming
This apartment was charming! The location cannot be beat for convenience to different transportation sources, and also for groceries, sights, clothing stores and specialty shops. This area is safe and clean. The cafe a few Blocks down, as well as the late-night grocery downstairs, were friendly and familliar go-to stops, as the owners are very friendly and look-out personally for Alexis' guests.
I came to Paris for my daughter's wedding and she and her husband stayed with me for a couple of nights before leaving for their honeymoon. The seperate bedroom (with door) provided appreciated privacy, and the generous closet space was a luxury not often found in Paris apartment rentals. The entire apartment was beautiful, comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The bathroom in particular was a luxury! Alexis was a joy to work with and rent from. The information she provided was very helpful, and she checked on us as soon as we got settled to make sure we were comfortable. She responded very quickley to any questions we had and even had someone come over to personally make sure we were comfortable with the locks and the different appliances. It was all very straight forward but it helped a lot to know that we had that little bit of support to begin our stay.
Can I move in?
This apartment is hands down in the best area of Paris. A wonderful neighborhood with the best cafés, cheese and baguettes within footsteps! After our days exploring Paris it was so nice to relax in the jacuzzi tub. Alexis did not miss a beat and the apartment really has everything you can think of: dishwasher, espresso machine, washer, tv, jacuzzi, spacious closets, dishes, glassware, you name it and it is here! You really get the true Parisian neighborhood feel by being there which is exactly what we were looking for!
Fabulous time in the trendy and hip Marais district!
My husband and two children (15 and 13) spent a week in Alexis' apartment in August. What a great apartment and a great gateway to all things interesting in Paris! It was a perfect location, well appointed and convenient. I would highly recommend it and hope to stay there again.
Excellent Location!
We stayed at this lovely apt during Christmas and had a wonderful time. The apt is very well appointed, comfortable, private and is located near many wonderful sights. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend without reservation. (We actually stayed Christmas 2012 but the calendar won't allow this date)
Danny & Don
great location
apartment was clean great area close to transport and restaurants.Owner very helpful .The apartment is quiet even though it is in a busy area, enjoyed our stay
Perfect week stay in Marais
We highly recommend our experience staying in this apartment. The rental of the apartment is run as any good business. The owner, Alexis is professional, the apartment is well appointed, and several friendly locals help orient and support renters during their stay (as needed). Truly the location and apartment couldn't have been better for a mother visiting Paris for the first time with two tween daughters. The only draw-back of the apartment is that the lovely linen sheets and spacious soaking tub might lull a renter into spending more time inside rather than outside in the Paris streets.
Fantastic location, quiet and very comfortable
This apartment was wonderful. You couldn't ask for a better location, in a wonderful neighborhood walking distance to everything and steps to the metro. Despite being in the heart of the city, the apartment is amazingly quiet, the beds were super comfortable (even the sofa bed) and Alexis was very communicative and helpful. We feel so lucky to have been able to stay there.
Perfect Marais apartment.
We rented this apartment via VRBO with our plans for to share two weeks in Paris with our 17 year old granddaughter in the Marais district. The apartment simply couldn't have worked out any better. To start, we had excellent communication with the owner Alexis, who went out of her way to ensure we had information about the place and the area to ease our way. She makes arrangements for one to drop off the baggage at a nearby cafe if the room is not ready in the morning. In our case she even had an english speaking person at the cafe to escort us directly to the apartment, which after the all night flight from Sacramento, California was greatly appreciated !
The apartment is on the second floor and easily reached by the usual little elevator one finds in France, or stairs if need be. The living space is large with windows to let in fresh air. The kitchen has all one needs, there was a very nice sofa bed for the granddaughter, and a very nice bedroom with queen bed for us. The bathroom is extra large by French standards with both a shower and nice tub and twin wash basins, plenty of soft towels, etc. When we arrived Alexis had a very nice bottle of wine for us and a variety of suggestions for us to do in the neighborhood. When we had a little hiccup with the refrigerator, probably my doing with the controls, she got help in immediately to fix it.The apartment is just perfectly situated for the area.
There is a Monoprix ( similar to a Target store here ) two blocks down for virtually all apartment shopping needs, and it also has an extensive wine selection. There are two really great bakery and pastry shops nearby - the one two blocks down has the absolute best croissants I've had in Paris. There are two grocery stores for fruit, cheese, greens, etc right across the street.
Its a easy 1 1/2 block walk to the Metro on line one which takes you directly to Hotel d'Ville, the Louvre, and to the Arc de Triomphe, with the usual side lines to all the other places. Its an easy walk to Ile St. Louis and Ile de Cite, with Notre Dame. The Marais neighborhood is fantastic just to saunter walk, with fun shopping, tasting falafel, great little restaurants and cafe's, and so on. Its a busy bustling area and I have found it the most fun of the various neighborhoods we have been in Paris over the years.
So a great area, really nice apartment, and most important of all an owner who really went out of her way to make sure all our needs were met, and was always there.
Let's Do It Again
This beautiful apartment met all our needs and more. It is equipped with everything you require - whether you stay a week or a month. Located in a prime Paris neighbor it allowed us to either stay in the neighborhood or reach out to greater Paris. The owner couldn't have been more helpful in making our stay the trip of a lifetime. We only wished we had stayed longer!
Outstanding Marais rental
My wife and I stayed at this apartment for our 5 nights in Paris. It couldn't have been better. First, as our "hostess," Alexis was gracious, attentive, and extremely helpful, from arranging for a smooth checkin (including permitting us to drop off our luggage when we arrived around lunchtime, well before the apartment was available for checkin), to providing very helpful and comprehensive notes about the apartment and the neighborhood, to helping with anything we needed during our stay.
Second, the apartment itself was wonderful. It is modern and attractive, has a fully equipped kitchen, stereo, phone (no charge for local calls), wifi, etc. There is even a printer for printing boarding passes. Although the apartment is located on a main street, it faces an inner courtyard and is very quiet. This is far, far preferable to a hotel, both financially and in terms of the added space and comfort that this apartment provides.
Finally, the apartment is located in our favorite neighborhood for walking in Paris, the Marais. It has everything: historic buildings, great and varied food, the wonderful Picasso Museum, the oldest park in Paris just a block away, and an endless supply of funky shops and galleries.
Third Outstanding Visit to a perfect home in the Marais
This is our third stay (10 days this time) in what I now consider "my home" in Paris. Every detail has been carefully seen to in order to make one's stay here absolutely perfect. Alexis, the owner, has seen to everything from bottled water and a bottle of wine on the dining room table to the smallest detail, such as great restaurant finds. This is a fabulous area with easy access to transportation, but it is also close to most tourist locations, restaurants, shops, parks, art galleries, and boutiques. On each of our trips we have been able to explore the city on a more intimate basis...in particular the Marais. Truly this is a perfect location. It even has an elevator!
Every picture showing the apartment is accurate with no embellishments. Every night I enjoyed a relaxing bath after our long walks. My husband enjoyed the large separate shower. It is easy to walk to stores to get food supplies; a small market is next door, a bakery is across the street, which is open on Sundays. Two more blocks away is a large Target style store where one can buy almost anything. The fabulous market of the Bastille is steps away on Thursdays and Sundays.
We had friends who stayed in the Marais while we were there, and their apartment could not begin to compare. They were left with 1/2 roll of toilet paper and no instructions on how to use the appliances or telephone. In "our" apartment, we could call the U.S. for free. Using the Internet is very easy and we stayed connected all the time. An espresso machine is there with coffee for two left for every day of your stay. The refrigerator is large as is the freezer. We took advantage of the dishwasher and the clothes washer. Alexis even leaves the appropriate washing supplies as well as clear instructions on how to use the appliances. Truly she has thought of everything.
We would not continue to go back if it were not a wonderful apartment. This is an absolutely exceptional place to make your home while in Paris. Book fast as this is an amazing apartment and goes very quickly.
Alexis, the owner, is charming, thoughtful, and eager to make everything perfect for you when her home becomes yours. She is amazingly helpful in making sure all needs are met. I have been here with a girl friend, with my sister, and now with my husband. It has been perfect with each visit, and I look forward to my FOURTH stay!!
Paris getaway. Trip to remember.
We spent 9 fantastic days in Paris and I would love to go back. The apartment has it all and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for exceptional accommodation in Paris. My husband and I wanted to stay in a vibrant central neighborhood with easy accessibility to shops, restaurants, parks, museums and the metro. Within blocks of the apartment we found all those things and more with bakeries, caves, cheese and meat shops, a supermarket, clothing boutiques, department store, historic parks, a free museum, the Opera, markets, a week long Art show and the Seine all within easy walking distance. The apartment was comfortable and quiet with a spacious bathroom and hot tub which we used to soak our aching feet after a day of exploring and lots of little touches such as long distance phone service, travel and reading materials, appliances with English instructions and an elevator which made our arrival and departure with heavy suitcases very easy. Alexis was fantastic to work with as she was always thoughtful, responsive and thorough. We appreciated receiving her recommendations and followed many of them to our enjoyment and satisfaction. She went above and beyond. If you are looking for a memorable and stress free accommodation that will exceed your expectations, don’t hesitate for a moment to book this apartment. Thank you Alexis!
Mother and daughter in Paris. Perfect. Effortless. Fantastic!
My daughter and I went to Paris for a mother-daughter getaway during her spring break, and were lucky enough to stay in Alexis' apartment. It was wonderful! From the moment we arrived at the cafe where Alexis told us to "mention her name," our visit was seamless. We were escorted to her apartment, which is right in the heart of everything. You can walk virtually anywhere, and public transportation is nearby as well. And the convenience! Did you forget your converters for European power outlets? It doesn't matter, they are already there (unlike hotels!) Do you need to print out your boarding pass? Easily plug your laptop into her computer. Feel like taking a bath? There's a big wonderful soaking tub, and separate shower with great water pressure. Using up too many minutes on your mobile? There's a local cell phone at hand, and an apartment telephone that uses Voice over IP so you can make unlimited calls to any country at no charge. The wireless Internet is great too, something I often have trouble with when I travel. There's even a hair dryer ready to go, fluffy towels....everything! It was an absolutely seamless, delightful experience. My daughter and I will never forget it. There are directions for everything, from how to use the espresso maker to how to open the sofa bed. Recommendations for restaurants, maps - they are all there. We tried many of Alexis' suggestions for dinner and they were fantastic. Every little detail was taken care of and again - location location location. When you walk out the door you are literally in the heart of everything. What a treat! We were so sad to leave....we will never forget our visit! Thank you Alexis!!!!!
Springtime in Paris! Our first visit to Paris
What a charming apartment! My wife and I spent a week in Paris after a week in Bordeax. Alexis maintains a lovely apartment with a tasteful blend of contemporary with the old. The location was perfect for us with a convenient Metro station only a few blocks away. Rue de Saint-Antoine is a very busy, and noisy, street, but the apartment is an interior one. We could not hear any noise from the street. We found the apartment spacious and well equipped. The pictures in HomeAway are a good representation of the unit. Though on the second floor (3rd floor to North Americans) there is a small elevator, so getting luggage up is not a problem. The area is surrounded by shops and cafes – you should be able to find anything you might need from wine and fresh produce to toiletries. About two blocks away and down a picturesque side street, almost an alley, is Place du Vosges, a park-like square with cafes, art galleries, and the residence of Victor Hugo. The Place was a delightful surprise. Alexis provided lots of useful information, both about the apartment and about Paris - shopping, eating, getting around. The only problem we ran into was getting into the apartment when we arrived in Paris. Per Alexis’ instructions, when we got to Paris we went to a café nearby and called the woman who was to let us in. Unfortunately, her English is limited. We understood her to say that she would be there is 10 minutes, but after half an hour we had to call her daughter, who followed up with her mother. After another 20 minutes she finally arrived, let us into the apartment, and tried to explain what to do (most of which we could not understand.) As we had come from Bordeaux and not from the U.S., we were not jet lagged. Had we been standing on the street for nearly an hour hungry and groggy from jet lag, we might have been grumpy. Do to her delay we missed lunch, anyway. Fortunately, the weather was good and we did not have to wait in inclement conditions; it did not rain until later in the day, springtime in Paris, you know. Once we got past the difficulty of getting into the apartment, which was a bit frustrating, everything went very well – the rest of our week was great. We can certainly recommend the unit, and the location is terrific. This was our first time in Paris and we discovered this unit was in a much better location than some we had considered. While it is a one-bedroom, the sofa is also a pullout bed, so the apartment could accommodate fou
Very comfortable stay in a fabulous location
Just returned from a trip to Paris and beautiful Burgundy and I felt compelled to write a review of our stay in this Paris apartment right away! We spent 5 days in this apartment with our two boys, aged 13 and 6. Alexis was fabulous to work with, so prompt with answering all of my questions (and there were many :)) and staying in touch throughout. She emailed me detailed recommendations on dining, shopping and fun activities. The housekeeper was on vacation when we arrived but Alexis took the time and trouble to prepare and email me ahead of time, videos with instructions on how to work the sofa bed and the apartment locks. As a result we had no problem at all getting ourselves into the apartment and settling in.
The apartment is lovely, so peaceful and quiet despite its central location in the heart of bustling Marais. There are plenty of stores of every kind right in the neighborhood--a convenience store right next door, a good size department store, fresh produce stand, boulangerie, pharmacy, and even a couple of boutiques and a shoe shop. We walked to the Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame and Saint Chapelle on a sunny day. Bastille metro is a 2 minute walk with connections to all the major sights as well as the train station. The apartment is clean, well furnished and equipped with everything a family would need to make their stay comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and we prepared breakfast there daily and cooked a few lovely meals too, with fresh produce purchased at the weekly markets. Great spice collection and a variety of teas and coffee in the kitchen! It made us feel totally at home. The bathroom is spacious, with double sinks, a shower and a soaking tub that made getting ready in the morning a breeze! The beds are very comfortable and the convertible sofa bed worked well for our boys. Washing machine and wifi worked great! And yes, plenty of power outlets fitted with adapters all over the apartment :).
Thank you Alexis, for your attention to detail and for helping make our stay in Paris truly comfortable and enjoyable!
Another wonderful stay
I've stayed in this beautiful apartment several times, and it keeps getting better. it's like staying at a friend's home.
The amenities are not your usual Ikea quality that you find in a rental. So much better than that! Sharp knives, placements, cutting boards, toaster, hot water kettle, lovely plates and glasses. Good quality pots and pans.Several different ways to make your morning coffee or espresso. Very soft sheets, extra blankets, and even bathrobes! Plenty of storage room. And don't bother bringing any adapters - I found almost every outlet had one ready for our use. The owner is attentive to every detail, and responds quickly to questions during your stay.
Several metro stops are nearby, and a bus stop is almost right outside the door. Markets are close by, cafes and restaurants are very convenient. A perfect home away from home for your holiday in Paris!
I can't wait to come back.
We'll always have Paris (with this apartment)!
My husband and I spent six wonderful nights in this Paris apartment, joined for a few nights by our college aged son (who said the double sofa bed was very comfortable). The apartment was extremely cozy, spotlessly clean, and very well equipped. The kitchen and bathroom were ample and well equipped by Parisian standards. The location in the Marais was the perfect balance of easy access to the main tourist attractions while at the same time offering a true neighborhood feel with fabulous local shops and restaurants, along with the Bastille Open Air Market on Thursdays and Sundays. The apartment offers easy access to convenient metro and bus lines. Having lived in Paris many years ago, I always thought of myself as a left bank kinda gal, however, the Marais has such a lovely neighborhood feel, I’m so happy that we made the choice to stay here. (And my old left bank neighborhood was overrun by chaotic traffic!) Alexis was delightful to work with and we couldn’t recommend this apartment highly enough.
Autumn Stay in the Marais
This is a great apartment! First of all, its in a perfect neighborhood. Walk to restaurants, shops, parks, and the Metro. Buy wine, a baguette and cheese for a leisurely lunch in the apartment. There are benefits here that we would not have enjoyed in a small hotel room.
The kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom is very roomy with a large bathtub. What a comfortable mattress. And after a long day of walking this was very much appreciated.
Exceeded our expectations
This beautifully maintained and thoughtfully equipped apartment in the Marais is the perfect Paris retreat. Alexis has thought of every detail to make her guests feel at home and comfortable. Located in the Marais, he location could not be any better. The neighborhood is upscale, friendly, packed with great restaurants and shops. It is steps away from two Metro stations and several bus stops. I highly recommend the Canauxrama tour of the Canal Saint Martin which departs steps from The Bastille. This lovely apartment has spoiled me for any other location in Paris and I hope to return soon. Alexis is a joy work with and her detailed instructions and recommendations are spot on.
Beautiful stay in Paris
We loved our week in Paris in this beautiful apartment. It was nicely furnished, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a good size and the large bath was a pleasure. The kitchen had everything you might need. The location was excellent - close to everything, quiet (the apartment faced an internal courtyard), and an elevator. You immediately felt at home. Alexis (the owner) couldn't have been any more helpful. Would highly recommend this apartment to family and friends, and would definitely stay again if returning to Paris - cannot get a better recommendation than that.
Perfect Paris
My wife and I (both late 60's) spent five wonderful days here in September. The apartment itself is spacious, with a large bathroom, well-equipped kitchen and very comfortable bedroom. It opens to an inner courtyard so it is very quiet. The neighborhood is perfect - great bakery (close enough that you won't eat the entire warm baguette before getting home), supermarket (Monoprix), lots of delicious take-out food options, and good restaurants (we loved Au Bouquet St. Paul- classic bistro with excellent, inexpensive, simple food). The front door is a few yards from a #69 bus stop (the ideal tourism bus) and a bit further from a Metro stop. There is a lift for those with arthritic knees but it's within walking distance of the Pompidou and Notre Dame for the more energetic.
The owner was a joy to work with, responding promptly to all inquiries.
We would definitely stay here again. I can't think of a single criticism (well, I did have trouble with the traditional Paris waiter cork-remover but there's a back-up butterfly corkscrew)
We felt right at home!
My fiancé and I were looking for a "neighborhoody" place to stay in the heart of a Paris where we could feel like locals but still be close to the major sights. A colleague referred us to this rental and we couldn't have been happier! The rental process is simple and efficient and the price point is really ideal. The rental was clean and cozy, offering all the right amenities. It was the perfect place to come home to relax after a long day of sight seeing and, just as we wanted, it was within walking distance to just about everything. Our favorite part was the neighborhood around the rental. It offered a quaint, authentic local feel, which we loved. And the shopping was great too! We're already looking forward to returning next summer!
Comfortable and Perfect Location
We spent four nights in the apartment. It was very comfortably furnished. The bathroom was large. It has both a queen size bed and a double size fold away bed, and both were very comfortable. It has a full kitchen and it even has a laundry machine! Even the the apartment is located right on St. Antoine which is the main road in the 4th that leads to the Louvre and the Hotel de Ville, the apartment was very quiet at night and a peaceful place to sleep and recover from all the walking. It is a very clean, chic, and safe neighborhood. Plenty of grocery markets, convenience stores, and bistrots all within walking distance. The only inconvenient aspect of the apartment is that it is on the 3rd floor and while the is an elevator, it is a typical parisian elevator and is quite small. So if you are traveling with a lot of large heavy luggage, you may need more than one trip in the elevator. However, being that this situation is typical in older French buildings, and that we had nothing but time on our hands, it wasn't any problem. All in all, I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Paris, and would unreservedly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and conveniently located place to enjoy the sights and sounds of Paris.
How Soon Can We Return!
My husband and I had never before stayed in an apartment in Paris, but hopefully we will return to this quiet, charming apartment soon. We spent a long weekend wandering through the streets of Paris. What a pleasure to return to this oasis of an apartment each evening. The bathroom alone is worth the visit - spacious with a both a shower and a luxurious tub in which to relax after a day on the go! At Alexis' suggestion, we shopped at the seemingly endless open-air Bastille market on Sunday and enjoyed our cheeses, bread & wine back at the apartment. Each morning we either brought back croissants from nearby bakeries or went around the corner for breakfast along Place des Vosges. The apartment windows open to a quiet inner courtyard, so the street noises are not heard. The bedroom has a comfortable bed, a window that again faces the pleasant courtyard and plenty of space to unpack clothes. Alexis provided us with recommendations for local eateries and her love of the city is infectious! Staying in this beautifully appointed apartment added immeasurably to an unforgettable romantic getaway.
Excellent, spacious, well maintained and comfortable Marais apartment
We recently spent a week in this great apartment. Fantastic location on Rue St-Antoine, lots of busy street life outside but quiet inside. Very spacious, large bathroom and good kitchen with all appliances including washer/drier and dishwasher. We bought local produce at the Thursday market at Bastille and enjoyed cooking two excellent dinners in the kitchen.
Two metro stations within a few minutes walk as well as some excellent restaurants, and food outlets, a few minutes walk to the beautiful Place de Vosges.
We be back on our next trip to Paris.
Everything you'd want plus an incredible bathroom
We loved our stay here. The kitchen was great, even got to wash our clothes and the bedroom looked over a lovely little quiet courtyard...private and relaxing. We had all the amenities...perfectly stocked by our hosts. And in a great area...fruit markets, a book store that carried books in English, cafes and the Place des Vosges (one of my favorite spots in Paris) a five minute walk away. The information booklet provided by the hosts was absolutely complete and the owner was easily contacted and helpful.
This rental made our trip a joy!
Everything you read in the description of this apartment is accurate. It is truly lovely with a large, "American" style bathroom. There is a lift so you do not have to drag your luggage up and down the stairs. The courtyard that all the windows overlook has a really pretty potted garden, the apartment is quiet and the location is perfect. You are within walking distance of so many things; Notre Dame Cathedral, Saint Chapelle, Place Vosages, Ile St. Louis, Rue Rivoli (shopping), St. Paul Village, even the Louvre if you enjoy a long walk along the Seine. The two Metro stops worked great, especially the Bastille stop, it connects with everything! Our 10 days flew by as we explored Paris and came "home" to comfortable beds and a good night's rest. The hairdryer provided works great (I have shoulder length thick hair and no problem drying it), and there are plenty of adapters that worked well for our IPhones, (we didn't have any other electronics). You will not regret renting this apartment, it has everything and the housekeeper and neighboring shopkeeper are very nice. And of course, Alexis is wonderful to work with! Enjoy, I envy the next guests and hope to return one day.
Ray and Ann
This was our first trip to Paris and reserved this apartment well in advance. Alexis was a joy to work with from the start, sending through detailed information about the apartment, surrounding area and places to eat and shop.
The photos did not do the apartment justice, was so much better. A lovely place to come back to after a long day sight seeing. Close to metro but most major sites were within walking distance. Lovely cafes all around plus Bastille Market twice a week to purchase fresh food.
Would definitely stay here again when next in Paris.
Perfect Location - Gracious Owner - Gracious Stay
My husband and I spent a lovely week in Paris with this wonderful apartment as our base. We are a mature couple, and this, our first stop on our first trip to Europe. The owner was very helpful, sending us spot-on tips for living in the neighborhood. We used this info to visit the huge and amazing farmers market very close by, and used the fully equipped kitchen to cook our breakfasts and a couple other meals. I enjoyed making the morning rounds in the neighborhood: fresh bread from the Pastisserie, fresh fruit from our pick of vendors, local eggs from the organic food store. Beautiful French windows open to a central courtyard. The apartment is quiet and relaxing. The owner has thoughtfully provided so many things that made our stay easy and carefree. We especially appreciated her tips on local shops and restaurants, tips for arrival and departure, wifi, the loaner cel phone, the lovely, comfortable and quiet space, the book with instructions on all appliances and the big bathtub, after our days of sightseeing! This location is so convenient to everything, including the Metro and busses. Any little thing we needed was there in the neighborhood (bank, pharmacy). We discovered we were very close to Gare de Lyon station, which made our departure by train for the south of France a snap, too! Very highly recommended!
Wonderful home away from home
This was our first trip to Paris. We reserved this spot well in advance and fortunately our 26 year old daughter was able to meet us there for a week.
Alexis was delightful to work with and she was so detailed oriented which made our life so much easier.
The apartment was just as described. Conveniently located, comfortable, and well appointed. Within walking distance to almost everything.Buses and metro super easy to navigate.
We are seasoned travelers and found a "gem" which we highly recommend. We plan to return to this apartment and experience more of Paris during yet another visit. Alexis, the owner was extremely helpful and responsive with all questions and arrangements.
Ideal location and all the comforts!
My daughter (13) and I spent an absolutely fantastic week in Paris, using this lovely, perfectly located apartment as our home base. I can't say enough good things about it -- beautifully furnished, immaculate, comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen and an extra large tub to soak in after a long day of touring the city. The owner meticulously cares for every detail and provides for a warm welcome. We can't wait to come back and can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else! Highly recommended!
A Gem in the Marais
My husband and I have traveled frequently to Paris, usually staying at boutique hotels with vest pocket rooms and expensive prices. This time, for the first time, we decided to try a centrally located rental in Paris. Our apartment fulfilled every expectation we had, and then some. Situated in the midst of the picturesque Marais, on a bustling street, it offers a wonderful haven of space and amenities. The apartment was better than the photos absolutely, clean. Everything promised in the photos was there. What was not stated was the absolute quiet of the apartment. We therefore had the best of all possible worlds. All those wonderful local food shops were within a two block radius, as well as a lovely local bookstore. The metro was near, as was the opera.
Alexis was extraordinarily helpful in getting us situated and oriented. We are senior citizens and felt the apartment was perfectly set for our needs. We plan to stay at Alexis' apartment again next year when we return to Paris.
Perfect Parisian Get Away
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary with a trip to Paris. This apartment was the perfect place. It was in a great location, between 2 metro stations, with all the necessities nearby. The apartment itself was clean and comfortable, it more than lived up to the photos. I loved the huge bathroom with a soaking tub! The entire apartment was larger than expected. The owner sent us several suggestions and tips about visiting Paris, which we found very useful. Since I must eat a gluten free diet, I was a bit worried about how I would be able to find safe food while in Paris, but Alexis sent me a list of GF places and some hints on ordering while out, including a place nearby with very good GF bread (Naturalia). We visited the Bastile Market based on one of Alexis' tips and found amazing, fresh foods which turned into a couple of delicious meals prepared in the well appointed kitchen. We would absolutely recommend this place to friends and relatives and look forward to returning ourselves.
Romantic getaway
The apartment is perfectly located in the Marais district, just a block from the charming square Place the Volges. Alexis was great communicating all the details and gave tons of helpful suggestions. The apartment is well equipped and very quiet. We hope to rent the apartment soon again. Thanks Alexis!
Wonderful place to stay in the Marais to enjoy all of Paris
We just returned from a 1 week stay at this fabulous apartment that is right in the midst of everything Paris to offer, wonderfully equiped, extremely clean, comfortable and very quiet. Although it is on a main street, it faces a courtyard and is so peaceful that you hear absolutely nothing. It is everything and more as described. The bookshelves are loaded with up to date books on Paris and the surrondings. We walked everywhere (about 10 miles each day) and only needed to jump on the Metro twice. Anyone who chooses this lovely apartment is in for a terrific treat. Everything you need is directly outside the door. You cannot go wrong renting it and the owner is a gem who is always ready to answer questions and provide a wealth of information before and during your stay.
A wonderful retreat in the heart of a very hip district
We spent 5 glorious days in this beautiful apartment which is in the heart of the Marais district. The apartment was incredibly well equipped - the best appliances, great pots if you are inclined to cook, Sunday best dishes and glasses and best of all, a Nespresso espresso machine. The bathroom was equally well equipped with lots of fluffy towels, bathrobes and soaps and shampoo. The owner left a bottle of wine for us, which we enjoyed during our stay. Within two blocks you can find great shopping for clothing, food, fruit and veggies and wine. There are many fantastic bistros within easy walking distance - we tried the White Gorilla which was elegant, Chez Paul which was very traditional French bistro with great prices and excellent food and Les Vins des Pyrenees which is just a couple of blocks away and also had great food and a beautiful interior salon. It is also a very short walk across Pont Sully to Ile de Saint Louis where there are many great restaurants. We ate at Les Caveuses, which was the best food and service we had in Paris! All of these bistros were fantastic, with friendly service and great food. We walked to all the sites from the apartment and at the end of a long day of visiting museums, galleries and of course shopping, we were grateful to relax with a glass of wine and some fromage in our sweet little apartment.
The pictures on the website do not do the apartment justice - it is much nicer than it looks. The owner called us on the land line after we arrived to make sure that everything was ok, and the housekeeper was very prompt in meeting us and kindly allowed us to store our luggage because we arrived early. We have rented many houses and apartments on this website and this was one of the best for the location and the price. We will definitely rent this apartment the next time we are in Paris.
Walked everywhere!
We enjoyed our stay very much. Got a great feel for the area, and walked everywhere. Very central, near charming old neighborhoods. The building is located on a wide busy street, and the entry is a plain door, nothing fancy. The apartment itself, however, is very quiet and nicely furnished as shown in the photos. We never saw or heard any neighbors. The bath is luxuriously large and the kitchen is modern and well equipped. It was great to unpack for two weeks and there was closet/drawer space for everything. WiFi worked very well. We were also very pleased with the owner's recommendation for a private taxi to the airport. The driver was 100% reliable for a very early pickup.
The PERFECT Paris apartment
When I say this is the perfect Paris apartment, I am not exaggerating. The listing is absolutely accurate. The photos show the color and warmth of the apartment, but being there and relaxing in this extremely clean, well-maintained property is beyond anything a photo could possibly show.
Alexis, the owner is charming, helpful, and so welcoming. I have only "met" her by email, but she sent lists of restaurants, places to go, things to see, and how to make Paris our home while there. Her hints for taking on the city are so helpful as are the guidebooks she has there for guests to use. She truly wants her home to be YOUR home.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted at a nearby restaurant and taken to the apartment, where we were made familiar with everything there. It was a lovely welcome, making us feel confident about using everything and staying there. We were even given a phone number to call in Paris, should we have a problem or questions.
A big 3-ring binder answers every question one could possibly have about the property from how to use the washing machine, to how to make a cup of espresso, to how to use the elevator...yes, there is an elevator! What a blessing that is after a long day walking around the City of Lights. There is a big screen TV, which honestly we didn't watch much in spite of its English speaking channels.
The location is perfect with a taxi center and the Metro close by. It is in a safe and convenient area with a small grocery store next door and the Bastille a couple of blocks away where one can visit the market 2x/week. The fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and cheeses, and gorgeous fresh flowers are spectacular whether to buy or photograph. Follow Alexis's suggestions for restaurants and nearby shops. They are all brilliant, well-tested suggestions.
We have rented apartments in other countries, but nothing compares with this. I feel so lucky to have found it via a friend. I would never stay in a hotel after having been here. My husband and I are returning "home" to "our" apartment in Paris in the spring of 2014. We can't wait.
I encourage you to book quickly as this gem of a place goes very, very quickly.
Great apartment, great location.
Comfortable, stylish and great location - it doesn't get better in Paris. My wife and I stayed here a week, cozy and warm in January, and were delighted to deal with the owners by email and to rent their home in the Marais. All the shops of Rue St Antoine are at the doorstep, the Bastille and Monoprix are a few steps away and right around the corner is "the most perfect square in Paris", Place des Vosges. We settled in, felt like locals, ate too many eclairs and will return again.
Beyond Awesome
It was with some trepidation that we decided to rent a Paris apartment sight unseen, with only reviews to recommend it, as I'm very particular, But WOW! is the best way to describe our experience.
We cooked a quick breakfast in the wonderfully equipped kitchen, with dishwasher, and enjoyed the fab espresso coffeemaker on our way out to see all the neighborhood has to offer, with a metro stop less than a five minute walk away.
The bathroom was Huge, with a shower and separate soaking rub with endless hot water , to relax at the end of the day, with the pastries we picked up.
The hide-a-baed was amazing the best ever, as great as the master bed.
The clothes washer means we'd pack lighter next time, although the elevator held us and all our luggage.
The apartment was even more than we'd expected, and the helpful communication with the owner made our stay so fabulously easy and fun, that I can only hope the apartment is available next year when we hope to go return.
Awesome Property and Location
My wife and I stayed with our two year old son.We loved it!. Alexis's apartment was great and in an awesome location. She was the perfect host giving us great information on EVERYTHING to do and see in Paris and guided us through checkin and check out which so helpful with a 2yo.The apartment was perfect to come home to after a long day of checking the sights of Paris and to also accomodate children with the toys provided was a godsend when we were enjoying our red wine!
The markets near the bastille which are on two days a week with the best and freshest produce were amazing and being able to come back to produce amazing meals was great.
Being located in the Marais was amazing and walking around on Sunday when they have blocked off the streets to traffic was a great experience.
We would definately come back again and totally recommend this property to anyone!!!
Thankyou Alexis you were the perfect host.
So lucky to find this
Spent a short week in this perfectly located apartment - a quiet oasis above the busy city streets. Our very helpful and responsive owner/host brought us Paris first-timers up to speed. The local contact was reassuringly available. A Metro station is very close but so many of the sights on everyone's list are within a walkable distance. The apartment is lovely; very well maintained; stocked with everything we needed. We will return.
Made a great vacation even better!!
This lovely apartment in the heart of Marias is an alternative way to visit the magical city of Paris. We have only stayed in hotels in our past travels and after this experience, we may not ever stay at a hotel again!!! The apartment is even nicer than the pictures on the web site. It is a warm and cozy escape from the bustling city streets. It is impeccably clean and I am extremely fussy; always traveling with my Lysol wipes and alcohol spray! These were not needed here! The furnishings are tasteful and the amenities are equally well conceived, including tons of storage space for your clothes and baggage. Included is everything you need from the press coffee or espresso machine, to the conveniently setup kitchen with everything you need to prepare a nice breakfast or to enjoy a bit of wine and local cheese before dinner. Come back for a quiet nap after a day of touring and you will be able to refresh for a fun evening out (courtyard view makes for a quiet apartment day and night)! There is a large food market only a 3 minute walk and you can purchase anything you desire. There are several specialty food shops as well, literally within a 1-4 block walk. And Alexis has thought of everything including a little wheeled cart so you don’t have to carry your treasures!
Alexis provides guidance for dining, food shopping as well as some fabulous boutiques just a few blocks away. The metro access is phenomenal and basically any location in the city is only about 15 minutes away from the apartment! The apartment is on the 3rd floor so when arriving and departing, the elevator is a blessing for getting your bags up the stairs! There are well written instructions about how everything works and there’s even a washing machine, allowing you to pack a little less. All in all, it was a fantastic trip and all the more so because of the lovely apartment where we stayed. Don’t miss out on this one!!
Fabulous apartment in a great neighbourhood
I (34 y) stayed in this very comfortable and lovely apartment for one week with my parents. We absolutely loved it! The neighbourhood was full of history, character, safe, within walking distance to all the attractions and everything you could ever need. The apartment was very nice to come home to after a long day of exploring the city. Alexis, the owner, made us feel very welcome and provided us with excellent tips and advice. I loved all the personal touches that made our stay there so comfortable such as umbrellas, dishwasher detergent, hand soap and paris travel books. The provision of these little thoughtful details made our stay so much easier and enjoyable and weren't provided in another apartment we rented near Nice. The apartment is very thoughtfully organized to make maximal use of the space in a very classy and stylish way. The bathroom is huge and very luxurious! I loved our stay there and hope to return soon with my husband.
Loved our stay
My father (age 84) and I (daughter age 57) loved our stay in Paris with most of the credit due to our stay in Alexis' apartment. It was the perfect home away from home and less expensive than a hotel with no comparison.
The 69 bus stop is a few doors down and runs near Notre Dame Cathedral, past the Louvre and Orsay museums to the Eiffel tower. Each day we caught the bus, explored some part of Paris, ate lunch out and then came "home" for dinner. Dad used the elevator with no problem and I used the stairs. A main grocery store is just a block away as well as a fruit market, bakery, deli and the Bastille market. We took advantage of the modern kitchen including dishwasher and clothes washing machine. The sofa bed has a full real mattress and is next to the giant bathroom with both a walk in rain shower and a giant luxury bathtub.(I wish I had her bathroom and kitchen at home.)
Favorite things in Paris included the Orsay museum, a street concert by the best violinist, windows in St. Chapelle, watching a man feed the birds in front of Notre Dame, first sighting of the Eiffel tower and riding the red hop on bus around Paris. We had the Paris Pass but hindsight didn't need it. The yellow hop on bus stops in front of the apartment so might have taken that one instead.
I sent my last e-mail from Paris on the wi-fi that worked perfectly : "Final words from Paris. Bugs bunny on TV in French. Boat on the Seine and Eiffel tower today. What impressed me most in Paris?: stylish polite gentle people with warm smiles and beautiful pedigreed dogs squeezed together into a city of antiquity. Also the vast numbers of Asians, Africans, and other Europeans. Fashion king has to be shoes - for women tall boots with anything. For the guys long pointy toed oxfords. And all worn with a certain walk that says, "I am a real Parisian."
Bye from Paris. Love... "
Thank you Alexis for helping us have a wonderful journey.
Perfectly located and appointed apartment
My partner and I were very pleased with this lovely apartment in the heart of the Marais and highly recommend it. We initially stayed at another vacation rental that really was not up to par with the description the owner provided and decided to move from it when we extended our stay in Paris. Alexis' apartment was such a welcome relief as soon as we arrived because it was everything she describes and more. All the modern conveniences one could wish for in an extremely clean, well- appointed, charming place. And the location couldn't be better-- right off rue de rivoli, so numerous supermarkets as well as wonderful traditional French patisseries, boulangeries, chocolate shops, fruit stands and cheese shops. 2 metro stops within a few short blocks, so it is so convenient to all sites and the airport. And a short walk to many sites without ever having to get on the metro, like Notre Dame and the left bank, Place Vendome, Hotel de Ville and the charming streets of the Marais itself with it's many charming shops and restaurants. The apartment is on a cute interior courtyard and extremely quiet at all times. We really felt at home at this place and Alexis could not have been any more accommodating a host. Every appliance (from dishwasher to expresso machine) had separate easy to understand directions and she was quick to respond to any questions we had. I can't imagine anyone not being very pleased with this apartment!
Excellent stay!
My partner and I were both very pleased with our recent stay at Alexis' Marais apartment. The apartment delivered on all accounts...in fact, I think Alexis understated many of the attributes. We especially loved all of the modern conveniences that were included, the warm creature comforts that we were use to at our home in Laguna Beach. Very clean, dishwasher, coffee and expresso machines, washer, shower with endless hot water etc. We moved to Alexis' apartment from another similarly- priced vacation rental in the Marais and hers' blew the other away! I am a little noise sensitive and the apartment's quiet ambiance further enhanced our stay. The location is so convenient to supermarkets, patisseries, restaurants, shops of all sorts as well as a short, easy walk to sites like Notre Dame, Place Vendome, etc. Additionally it is a short walk to 2 metros that allow quick trips to all other tourist destinations as well as the airport. We will definitely stay again on our next visit to Paris.
Great Vacation!
A quote attributed to Oscar Wilde states that good Americans go to Paris when they die. In an attempt to hedge our bets, we try to go as often as possible right now. What has made this habit especially attractive is the discovery of “Joie”, a “close to heaven” apartment near the Bastille. Owned by Americans who like to cook, it has an efficient and well-equipped kitchen which passed my “wannabe chef” husband’s criteria for what he needs for cooking. It doesn’t hurt to be just steps from the Bastille open-air food market, an award-winning butcher, bakeries, wine shops, cheese stores , not to mention Lenotre. The apartment is tastefully furnished, quiet (on the inside courtyard), light, clean, well-maintained and equipped with plenty of storage space. . “Joie” also has probably the biggest bathroom in a Paris apartment we have seen. It is actually between two Metro stops for easy commuting and within walking distance of the central Marais and all its fun boutiques and galleries as well as Notre Dame and the 6th arrondisement. Alexis thoughtfully provides lists of places to eat and be entertained if you need it. This is a “keeper” and we hope to be back often !

Truly wonderful apartment!
This was our second year at this wonderful rue St Antoine apartment. The apartment is absolutely terrific. The apartment has a fabulous kitchen, with gas cooktop, huge, luxurious bathroom with a massive bath and separate shower, and if things couldn’t be better, a serenely quite bedroom. We both love to cook and were able to easily prepare gourmet meals. The location truly couldn’t be better. The apartment is between 2 metro stations, St Paul and Bastille, both a very easy walk. The Place des Vosges with it’s wonderful shops and restaurants is practically next door and if I might say, it’s a terrific place for an impromptu picnic on a sunny Parisian day. The Bastille market on Wednesdays and Sundays is a great place to stock up on fresh vegetables, wonderful cheeses and flowers, the provided grocery trolley makes it very easy to bring all your goodies home. I’ve stayed in many apartments in Paris over the years and this is the first one that I’ve returned to for a second year in a row and can’t wait until next year!
Great place!
Lots of extras at this well located apt. Elevator, wifi with printer, guide books and a wonderful owner who makes your stay effortless. The bed and furniture are quite comfortable. Plus, the apt. is very quiet.
The perfect place to stay in the city of lights.
my wife and I hadn't been to Paris for 16 years and were determined to spend our 10 days exploring this wonderful city. Alexis apartment was perfect. It provided everything we needed to make our stay one of the most memorable vacations to date.Everything was as described, location, comfort, quiet and fully equipped. The Marais is wonderful. Full of cafes, boulangeries, restaurants, and most important of all wine stores plus an amazing farmers market within minutes of the apartment.
Alexis was excellent to deal with, providing detailed information on every aspect of our stay, including providing information on what taxis to call to take us to CDG airport.
We would definitely recommend this apartment to others and would stay there ourselves on our next visit to Paris.
JOIE LLC is the one you must stay in Paris
Alexis's place is a must stay in Paris for vocation. It is a perfect location to everywhere you want to go in Paris. It is very convenient to shopping, walking and drinking. The place is very clean, safe and comfortable to stay for a short-term or even long-term vocation. It has everything you need. More importantly, it is a pretty big place, or we even call a large place given its price in Paris! We have a wonderful two weeks in this apartment.
Alexis is a very kind and thoughtful person. She makes arrangement for everything prior to our coming, because we arrive at early morning of the arrival day. When we enter the place after a long trip, we see spring water and a bottle of France wine she has prepared for us on the table! She also introduces to us many valuable information including Taxi driver's phone number when we back to USA. We have recommended Joie's place to our friends and love to recommend it to everyone who want a peaceful and comfortable time in Paris. My family even has a plan to back again. A tenant from Charlotte, NC, USA.
A real home away from home!
My husband, my two year old son and I just returned from our Paris vacation and we had a great time and loved this apartment! Big, very clean, quiet and perfectly located! We highly recommend it! Our first vacation apartment rental ever and it was so nice! We'll probably never stay in a hotel again. The location of this apartment was excellent! Not only walking distance to many famous Parisian sites but also around the corner from the beautiful Place des Vosges with its beautiful fountains, shopping, and playground equipment and sandboxes. We often ended our days with a visit there where our son was able to get out some good energy after being in a stroller. There are at least three Metro stops too within two or three blocks that allowed us limited transfers when site seeing beyond the Marais. Our 2 year old LOVED the metro rides! And local amenities are great too; fresh fruit market directly across the street, boulangeries, panini/creperie, a Monoprix, nice restaurants and cafes, all within a few blocks. And the Seine is a mere 5-7 minute walk away-Loved that! The separate bedroom was important to us too so our son could nap or sleep while we planned the next days activities. I think the closet space/storage should be better advertised! We brought a lot - stoller, luggage and carry-ons and we did not use all the storage that was available! So nice to not trip over or even see luggage on our vacation! The big bathroom and bathtub was also a treat, great after a long day of walking and playing in the sandboxes. Alexis, the owner, was so very nice. She was so helpful (if not therapeutic) to us as apartment rental newbies. Spoke with us multiple times answering questions before we left and checked up on us during our stay. I can't say enough. I have recommended to friends and relatives already and cannot wait to return!
PERFECT, QUIET Paris Apartment close to EVERYTHING
Our stay (my husband and I, Age: mid-30's) at Alexis' apartment the first two weeks in July couldn't have been better. The apartment is in the perfect location for anything and everything one might want to see or do while in Paris. The shopping in the Marais is excellent, with a multitude of shops and eateries lining the streets. The busy bistros along the 'main' street offer excellent people watching, but if you're looking for a quieter place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine, beer, bite to eat, etc., simply stepping down any of the smaller side streets will get you what you're looking for. Alexis' apartment is located in the heart of all this, but is AMAZINGLY quiet (you literally cannot hear the traffic, even with the windows open). We found that by keeping the shutters closed while we were out and about during the warmest hours of the day, the apartment remained very cool. Even on days when the temperature reached 85ºF/29ºC outside, the apartment never became too warm.
Every morning I would get up and go across the street to one of the many bakeries and markets for fresh croissants and fruit. We also enjoyed several great cheeses from the cheese shops just a couple of blocks away. The kitchen is very well-equipped, and allowed us to eat in several times throughout our stay. While we enjoyed the ease of the Nespresso machine, we are big fans of French Press coffee, and Alexis has one of those in the kitchen as well!
The bathroom is amazingly spacious - we especially loved having the double sinks! Even in the warm weather, the large bathtub offered a relaxing end to very busy days.
The queen-size bed was very comfortable, and the linens provided were of great quality.
Having a washing machine was priceless-I can't imagine coming home with 2 weeks worth of dirty laundry!
The Metro is close by, for any trips further than you may want to walk. We also used the Metro to get to Bois de Vincennes-an excellent place to run while staying in Paris! We used the trains to take several trips out of the city, to smaller villages, to Switzerland, and the coast of France, without problem. It was certainly nice to return to Alexis' apartment after these trips-it felt like coming home!
We will not hesitate to rent this apartment from Alexis again in the future. She was very helpful, thorough, and kind, from the time I sent our original inquiry until after our stay, making sure everything had been to our liking.
It truly could not have been better!
Perfect in Paris
This was my second stay at this wonderful apartment. The location can't be beat. I feel like I'm staying at a friend's apartment - not a rental. Attention to details, like sharp knives in the kitchen, plenty of towels in the bathroom and lights on dimmers. Trust me. I've stayed in plenty of rental apartments, and it doesn't get better than this one. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. (And don't forget to use that incredible bathtub!)
Just book it NOW!!!
So you are looking for an apartment in Paris and you are thinking of staying in the Marais.....do yourself a favour and call Alexis and book this place! We spent a great week here in May in spite of the rainy weather.
As others have written, the apartment is centrally located with numerous tourist destinations within walking distance (Notre Dame, Places des Vogues, etc). Also, the apartment is under a 5 minute walk to the Metro. We toured all of Paris and never used a taxi. No matter where you stay be prepared to walk, and walk, and walk!
The area around the apartment has numerous great restaurants and patisseries, with every kind of shop you can imagine within walking distance. Wine and cheese are easily found with the closest wine store literally across the street. For local pastries and morning coffee you have numerous cafe options. And for those who don't want to enjoy the relaxed French cafes, there are even 2 Starbucks within walking distance. The grocery store is a block away, with a convenience store literally at the apartment's street exit.
Friends of ours had booked another apartment the same week we were there and we toured Paris together. Let's just say they were a little jealous when they saw our apartment! We actually ate in for 2 dinners during the week and given this apartment had double the space that theirs did, it was an easy decision as to which apartment to eat at! And it is fully equipped with top of the line appliances. This is their Paris home, not just another rental property!
We actually had the opportunity to meet Alexis and her husband in person as they were leaving the apartment when we were checking in. They are truly caring individuals who want you to have the best experience possible. They left us a bottle of wine and water to welcome us, and when Alexis found out they would be painting the hallway during our week, she refunded 100 euros just in case it was an inconvenience (which it was not).
We highly recommend the Blue Bike tour as a great 4 hour introduction to all the main Paris sites. We also had a 6 day museum pass which we used every day and also avoided numerous long lines (we where inside the Louvre including through security in under a minute!)
The apartment also has all the information you will need for your stay. From Paris maps to local walking tours, it is all there. So for anyone even considering this property, the pictures do not do
Great Paris Apartment in the Marais
My wife and I stayed for six nights in this great apartment in the Marais. It is within easy walking distance of the Seine, the Georges Pompdiou Center, the Picasso Museum (when it re-opens) and great falafels. We loved walking around the Place des Vosges and on the other side of the Bastille, where the Marais has Paris's version of New York's High Line. And if you like walking, you can walk almost anywhere from this apartment - to Notre Dame, Place St. Michel, the Louvre, etc. If you don't like walking, the Bastille metro stop is about 1-1/2 blocks away and you're easily connected to everyplace in the City. The apartment is spacious with a gigantic bathroom with two sinks and all the kitchen appliances you might want or need. It's quiet, safe and secure. There's good food and wine nearby for when you cook your own meals. You will be personally greeted when you arrive and there's a tradition of leaving a bottle of wine for the next guest. We have stayed in several other apartments (and hotels) in Paris and we highly recommend that you stay at this apartment in the Marais. Alexis is a terrific host and will supply you with knowledgeable information about restaurants and things to do. Rent it!
Quiet Parisian Hideaway
We were active tourists in Paris for the first two weeks of April. After enjoying the sights and walking, walking, walking this was perfect to return to. The quiet of the apartment was great for naps, the huge bathtub was restorative, and the elevator most welcome. The kitchen is completely ready, but for us the Parisian restaurants meant we only made coffee. (And brought back incredibly delicious pastries from across the street.)
The apartment is exactly as described. It was immaculate.
Alexis was extremely helpful with all arrangements. She has thoughtfully provided information pertaining to all aspects of the apartment and Paris. When I had a fuse blow in the kitchen, I looked in her welcome book and clearly read how to solve it. (Same with TV.)
As others have written this location is perfect for tourists with metro, bus, taxis, restaurants, shops and beauty all around it. We had several wonderful meals in local restaurants in the Marais. Our favorite is Le Tastevin on Ile St Louis - an easy walk across the Seine. We recommend the bateau ride at sunset and also the museum pass.
We recommend this place to all.
The PERFECT oasis in the heart of Paris!
No photo or review can do this apartment justice! Just minutes walk to the Bastille metro and a casual stroll from the best open air farmers market I've ever seen -- if you want to be in the heart of Paris but need some space to relax, this is where you want to be! Our family of four arrived to find this warm, wonderful oasis to be more than we could have ever imagined. (This apartment would be great for a romantic couple's getaway too!) The apartment is beautifully furnished, large and impeccably maintained. The spacious bathroom with a shower, separate soaking tub, and dual-sink vanity (a true rarity in Paris after the tiny bathrooms we've found in our previous trips) was big enough for our whole family to get ready in the mornings without feeling cramped. (It was also perfect for a long, quiet soak after a full day of walking around.) Everything you need is right where you look for it in the apartment -- from the fully furnished kitchen to the extra sheets for the pull out couch, Alexis has thought of everything.
Alexis has also done a great job of mapping out what is available nearby, although there are so many choices that you can honestly walk out the door and find most anything your heart could desire. We enjoyed quiet mornings of fresh cheese, fruit and that wonderful French bread from the many bakeries right outside the door. If you're wanting to do more serious cooking, you'll love the well-furnished kitchen too. (And being the coffee addict that I am, I have to say the espresso machine was a welcome treat!)
This apartment is top of our list and I'm sure we will be coming back! There's so much to explore in Paris and we've now found the perfect home base from which to do it!
The Marais in Winter
Your apartment was exactly as advertised and portrayed, clean, attractive, quiet and comfortable, the location ideal, with bakeries, chocolate, cheese and wine shops within a short walk and only minutes from the Line 1 Metro stop at Bastille. The wi-fi and telephone kept us in touch with family and friends back home, the heating was perfect, the bath large and comfortable. Breakfast in was easy and we very much enjoyed dinner at excellent nearby restaurants Autour du Saumon, l'Osteria and l'As du Fallafel. Having lived in France for 3 years and visited many other times, we were hesitant about a winter visit. In fact, the sky was gray, the rain frequent, the snow occasional during our 12 day stay, but the comfort and warmth of your apartment provided a wonderful retreat from the elements. And Paris is Paris anytime of the year. Museums, walking tours in the Marais with its historic Hotels, narrow lanes and interesting boutiques, the Latin Quarter, the Tuileries to Concorde and on to the Etoile, the grand sites and sights were all there and not crowded with tourists. Our granddaughter was thrilled to see Paris for the first time and we were delighted to show it to her. Your lovely apartment was very much a piece of that and we would recommend it as a perfect base for any one at any time of the year.
Thanksgiving Holiday
As former resident of Paris, I was surprised by both the QUIET within the apartment and its modern touches. These include basics like heat, hot water, and makings for the requisite morning coffee. Stayed with 2 daughers in their early 20s, one of whom also lived in Paris 4 years. We all loved it. The location makes for easy access via Metro to the rest of the city and to all shopping needs. Apartment is a winning alternative to any hotel stay. No doubts.
Best Birthday Ever
We spent a perfect two weeks here for my birthday. The apartment is as wonderful as the previous reviews have mentioned--the spaciousness, cleanliness, comfort and charm. We've stayed in Paris on many previous occasions but never in a place that was "home" the way this property is. We especially appreciated being able to cook many of our own meals (full kitchen! espresso machine!), do our laundry (washer and dryer!), and just relax (quiet; comfortable furniture; television with many channels). We also want to mention how helpful Concessioa is in explaining and demonstrating all the appliances, as well as in cleaning weekly.
Every restaurant we tried in the area was wonderful. For example, we found a small restaurant, La Mexcaleria… which is a great place for a lunch or an evening tequila. Just one of many of the incredible and inexpensive restaurants in "our" area.
One of the most unusual and interesting walks we discovered was the Viaduc des Arts and Promenade Plantee, a beautiful 4.5 km walk starting at avenue Daumesnil (only a few blocks from the apartment), which is a raised walkway of a former railway line. It ends at the equally beautiful Parc de Bercy, which in turns adjoins Bercy Village, a pedestrian-only village with great cafes (all open on Monday, in itself unusual) We also enjoyed the Institut du Monde Arabe, the Jardin des Plantes, and the Arenes de Lutece (sitting in the sun, watching several games of petanque). .
Finally,we highly recommend the book "An Hour from Paris" (Annabel Sims) that describes walks in beautiful, interesting villages and places to visit that are no more than an hour from Paris by RER or regional train. One of the trips we took was to Moret-sur-Loing (one of the most enchanting villages I've visited) plus a walk along a tow path to the next village of Mammes. As you walk along the village and the river, plaques with pictures pointed by Sisley show the exact scene he painted--you look up from the photo of his picture only to find the exact same scene right in front of you. Magic!
We hope to return here on a yearly basis, now that we have such a wonderful Parisian "home" to enjoy.
Fabulous apartment
From the moment we arrived both Tim and I realized that we had picked the perfect apartment. The housekeeper's daughter, who's english was great. reviewed the workings of all the appliances and made us feel very welcome. The kitchen is a dream, especially for Paris. A gas cooktop, a full-size oven and a huge fridge, plus the great pots and pans make this apartment a cooks dream. We were even able to recreate Julia Child's boeuf bourguignon!! The bath is absolutely massive by Parisian standards. The location is the best. You're very close to two Metro stations and wonderful restaurants are within easy walking distance. I think a 10 out of 10 is well deserved.
Classy apartment in a perfect location
My friend and I stayed at this lovely apartment for one week. This was our first visit to Paris so we did not know what to expect. My daughter found this apartment online and said that Alexis was delightful to deal with and prior to our visit she provided us with plenty of helpful hints on where to eat, shop, where the closest groceries and markets are etc. which was much appreciated. We loved the location most of all! We are ladies in our early sixties and we walked to most of the tourist sites we visited, including Notre Dame cathedral, Louvre and Champs Élysées. The apartment itself was very classy, with quality furniture, dishes, utencils and modern appliances, we even found coffee pods for the espresso machine which lasted us the whole week, very nice touch. As I am an early riser, I let my friend take the main bedroom and I slept on the sofa bed in the lounge which was very comfortable. The free of charge calls to landlines to Australia were a real bonus as we called our families in Australia to tell them of our impressions of beautiful Paris. We highly recommend this apartment for a pleasant stay in Paris.
Perfect Paris Pad
This peaceful apartment was the perfect oasis after a day of sightseeing, shopping and, of course, eating. Alexis ensured that we had all the comforts of home, including very detailed and comprehensive instructions (complete with diagrams) explaining how to use everything. In addition to Alexis' binder outlining some of her favourite things, there were numerous guidebooks to ensure that we didn't miss a thing. The apartment was spacious, well laid out and lovingly decorated. It was also very clean and organized. With 3 adults in our group (2 girls with lots of clothes and shoes), we never felt cramped or lacking space. We managed to find ourselves in Paris during the heatwave, but the apartment was surprisingly quite cool, and the fan also helped to dispel the heat. Perfectly situated on the central M1 metro line, it was just a few stops to the Louvre and the Champs Elysees, with connections along the way to venture elsewhere. If you had some time on your hands, you could actually walk to the Louvre. If you just wanted to relax, there were many quaint cafes, restaurants and shops in the neighbourhood. We are really going to miss our home away from home. Can't wait to go back!
A real taste of Paris!
My husband and I stayed in this lovely abode for 6 days in August to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Although we had both been to Paris before, but it made such a delightful difference to stay in an apartment in more of a residential area. We HIGHLY recommend the Bastille Farmer's Market on Sunday mornings just two blocks away- makes you feel like one of the locals! People were more friendly and laid back in this neighborhood than I remembered in my past trips. I think getting away from the more touristy areas really helps. That said, we were still very close to everything. A quick ten minute walk to Notre Dame and being within a few blocks of two metro stops made everything super accessible.
The apartment itself was spacious, comfortable, and very homey. Alexis, the owner, gave us so many helpful tips and also left several helpful resources in the apartment like a local cell phone and not to mention the fully equipped kitchen! I highly recommend this lodging for your next stay in Paris.
Wonderful Paris Apartment
We stayed in the Apartment for one week. The owner, Alexis, could not have been more accommodating.
I really felt like we were part of her family since she took such great care to make sure we were happy with everything. The apartment is really cute and in a great location. Alexis gave us a lot of suggestions and left wonderful instructions so that we felt comfortable with our stay. The open air market just a few hundred feet away was great. All the fresh fruit and vegetables you could ask for as well as a great crepe stand.
The apartment is very spacious and quite comfortable and fully equipped. All of the appliances are very new and modern. The expresso machine was great. The welcoming bottle of wine was a very pleasant surprise. She has a wonderful selection of travel information and books to review.
The neighborhood is great and we always felt very secure and the street has every kind of shop that you would want within a very short walking distance.
My wife and I have stayed a number of VRBO properties in the last few years and we would rate this stay at the top of our list.
It was a great stay and we would highly recommend the apartment.
We loved this apartment!
We absolutely loved this apartment. It is conveniently located near the Place de Vosges and the Marais district, a few blocks walk from the Bastille metro, and directly in front of Bus 69 which takes you to the Eifel Tower and other tourist attractions. The apartment is beautifully and comfortably decorated and the owners have done absolutely everything to make the guest comfortable, including a spa bath, internet, free American phone calls, a loaner cell phone, among other conveniences. But the best was the owner's narrated advice column in the welcome book where she tells you about restaurants, stores, and places to go. We found two new great places close by-- the Soprano Italian Restaurant on rue Caron, and the La Carrotte (spelling may be wrong)-- a delicious place for breakfast or baked goods, on the far side of the Place de Vosges. Of note, we stayed with my 80 year old mother who has difficulty walking, and the elevator and apartment location worked perfectly for her.
Attention To Detail Plus!
My husband, 18 year old son and I stayed 5 days in this apartment, and we cannot sing its praises enough. Right from the beginning, Alexis was so easy to communicate with and quickly responded to any questions I had. The apartment was clean and well-maintained and stocked with everything we needed to make us feel at home ... and more! It's lovingly furnished and spacious and comfortable, and perfectly situated for daily sightseeing, shopping (clothing, groceries, pastries, cheese and anything else you could imagine), and café-sitting. Everything is virtually right outside your door. We appreciated having the espresso machine for our morning coffees and the washing machine was a bonus, since we were traveling for 3 weeks. Loved the bathroom - what a treat to soak in the tub at the end of the day. We couldn't ask for a better locale than the Marais. Easy transportation to and from anywhere - the Metro and Bus 69 were easily accessible, but Paris is such a walkable city, that we could get pretty much anywhere on foot. We know where we'll be staying on our next visit!!!
Quiet and Cozy Appartment for Your Stay in Paris
This appartment was just as advertised! Terrific location in the heart of the Marais, great shopping nearby and easy access (within 5 minutes) to two subway stations (St-Paul or Bastille). Place des Vosges is also just a 10 minute walk from the appartment, if you want to enjoy a beautiful green space in the heart of Paris. The appartment was very nicely furnished, has a really nice bathroom and was absolutely spotless! We were travelling with our 15 year old daughther, she was very comfortable sleeping in the sofa bed. I would not recommend this appartment however for families that have more than two children. Note that the appartment actually is not overlooking the street, which makes it a bit dark (if you need lots of natural light) but for sleeping, it was very quiet at night so real nice if you need a good sleep after all that walking in one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
Great trip
My husband, 11 year old daughter and I stayed here for a week. The location is fabulous, the apartment is very comfortable and Alexis was very helpful and shared a wealth of information.
C'est Magnifique!
Before writing a review of our stay in the Marais apartment, I read previous reviews to see if I could add anything to the extremely satisfied and descriptive remarks of other visitors.....and it is all so true! This wonderful apartment is everything and more....cozy, modern, convenient to shops, transportation, located in a historic, charming section of Paris...and in a very safe neighborhood.
The space is so well equiped that you feel like home....TV...WiFi....fully equipped, modern kitchen....a washing machine (YAY!!)....expresso machine....a huge soaking bathtub....what could be better!
Probably te best part was the kindness and graciousness of the owner, Alexis. She was always available and ready to assist.
All in all, a wonderful experience...yes, we will return and recommend this apartment to any travelers to Paris.
Cecile and Gene
Fantastic Week in Paris
We (my husband, 17 year old son and I ) just returned from an 8 night stay at this apartment and I can't say enough about it. As others have posted, it was exactly as described-- even better.
Having been to Paris four times in the past five years, we always rent in the Marais area. Alexis's apartment was by far the best, in terms of size, amenities, central location (literally steps away from the No. 69 bus which runs from the Eiffel Tower to Pere LaChaise Cemetery) and of course, the wonderful bathroom. Fully stocked kitchen with fabulous Nespresso machine and milk frother, extremely comfortable bed (as well as sofa bed), super- efficient wifi, it was all a delight.
Alexis clearly loves this apartment and takes care to make sure you do too.
Each morning my husband went to a different boulangerie for our breakfast, having many to choose from within blocks, including the famous LeNotre. So centrally located, we were able to walk virtually anywhere, including the Louvre, Les Halles, numerous other museums, the Ile de La Cite etc.
Would return in a heartbeat.
Excellent apartment in marvelous Marais district; wonderful home away from home in Paris!
Just returned from a wonderful 4 day, 5 night getaway to Paris with my mother (a senior). Our stay at Alexis' wonderful apartment in the Marais district met all of our needs - great location for walking to everything we wanted to see in the heart of Paris, well equipped apartment, easy rental process, and a cozy place to land at the end of a long day, with more amenities than a hotel room.
The Marais district offers wonderful shopping, restaurants, Place des Vosges and market day on Thursdays and Sundays at the Bastille. We felt safe and at home in this neighbourhood, buying our groceries and living the life of Paris for a few days.
Alexis made the experience seamless and warm. Although not there in person, Alexis' thoughtfulness and attention to detail made it feel like she was there as your host, from initial contact right with information and answers, through the booking and arrival process. Throughout the apartment, there are notes on how to use appliances, tourist books, restaurant reviews, nice soaps & coffee. All nice touches that make the rental feel more like you are staying in the home of a good friend.
The apartment is spacious, peaceful, practical and well equipped... from the kitchen, to the glorious tub/shower in the bathroom, and lovely linens on the beds. Four large windows open to an inner court yard, bringing light into the apartment.
Walking around Paris, my mother and I enjoyed the shopping, people watching, the history and architecture. We made good use of the batobus - as a rest for the weary feet, as we hopped on and off at various stops to see different things in Paris. A day trip to Monet's garden in Giverny was a special treat.
Thank you Alexis for sharing your wonderful apartment in Paris. My husband and I have rented apartments/villas in the past for travel with our family. It always requires an element of trust... for both renter (not knowing what to expect) and the apartment owner (will they take good care?). Anyone who chooses your apartment, will not be disappointed. Your warmth and attentive approach to the rental process was very much appreciated, and the quality of the apartment was great.
Will be back in the future with my husband. Paris - so much to see & enjoy; so little time.
Mother, daughter from Canada Spring 2012
Perfect!
We spent 3 weeks in this Paris apartment and LOVED it! The space is even larger than it appears in the photos. It is a luxury apartment with a complete kitchen, comfortable bed and sofa bed, spacious dining area, and a large bathroom with a huge tub and refreshing shower. The location is ideal for exploring Paris. it is close to 2 metro stops. The 69 bus ( which is one of the top 3 bus routes in the world! ) is right outside the door as are buses with other routes. We were joined by our daughter ( in her 20's ) for half our vacation. She love the clothing ( Chattawak, Etam ) and shoe shops (Camper ) that were so close by. We had great fun riding the hop on hop off bateau bus ( an easy walk, by Notre Dame ) which is 15 euros for one day, 18 for 2, and 21 for 5 days! We were so close to 3 of Paris' top pastry shops, Gerard Mulot, Eric Kayser, and Le Ble Sucre that we indulged in special desserts every day as well as bread and croissants. The apartment is near grocery stores, cheese shops, fruit and vegetable markets, and wine stores. It's a straight line to get to the Louvre. The Place des Vosges with its lovely green space is just around the corner. The apartment was ideal, close to everything, quiet, comfortable, and clean. The owner was a delight to correspond with making us feel like friends. We can hardly wait to return!
lovely
I've lived in the UK for a few years and have been dying to go to the continent (haven't been to Paris since I was a kid)! "I need to get away!" was my mantra.
The moment I walked into the flat, I knew I'd come to the place to restore my soul (you'll see the Hugo quotation on the wall...)
The flat is just a few blocks from the Bastille metro stop and a few feet from the St Paul stop. You can literally walk anywhere - and if you get tired, you can take the Metro. My favourite place in Paris now is the Place de Vosges - just around the block. It's a beautiful square with restaurants, shops, a school, and a garden in the middle.
The owner provides detailed instructions for everything - from how to work the washing machine and cappuccino machine, to how late the local stores are open. The bed was really comfortable and the bedroom was perfect. Since it was winter when I visited - and I walked everywhere - I spent most of my evenings in the soaking tub. It was fabulous.
I felt restored, refreshed, and utterly happy the entire time I was there. I'm dying to go back. It's a great value, a great apartment, and wonderful, accomodating, welcoming landlord.
Great apartment in a great neighborhood
My husband and 7 year old daughter and I stayed here for nearly a week--we loved it! The space was large enough for us to spread out and be comfortable, unlike the hotels we stayed in on past visits. The apartment was in the perfect location for sightseeing AND living like a local. Despite being on a busy street, the apartment was nice and quiet. The owner treated us like an extension of her family, providing us with helpful suggestions for dining and sightseeing. All amenities were top notch, including a washer/dryer, relaxing tub, wifi, fully stocked kitchen... Without a doubt, staying here made out trip truly a vacation.
Perfect Place For A Valentine's Getaway!!!
My husband and I chose to stay at this property for our first trip to Paris. We were very nervous about what we would find on our arrival since we knew next to nothing about the neighborhood. We were so pleasantly surprised!! The apartment was AMAZING! It was even better than the pictures! I couldn't believe how spacious it was and the bathroom was great too! Everything was very clean and well kept and the kitchen has everything you need to cook a lovely French meal!
The location could not have been better! There are two metro stops within close walking distance and many bus stops too. There are also numerous restaurants and shops very close by.
The owners have literally thought of EVERYTHING possible to make the stay as comfortable and "homey" as possible. Alexis was so helpful throughout the whole process and gave us lots of info about things to do/places to eat around the area. We would love to return again in the future!! Look no further if you want an amazing place to spend your Paris getaway!
Wonderful appartment, great location
The minute we walked into Alexis' appartment, we knew we had made a great choice. Large and airy, it is a delightful mix of the traditional and modern, beautifully decorated and with all the amenities you could need. Everywhere you look, there are lovely decorative touches which demonstrate the owner's good taste. The larger-than-average bathroom, with its big tub, separate shower and double sinks, felt like that of a luxury hotel. The small but modern open-plan kitchen enabled us to attend to our two-and-half-year old's needs from breakfast through dinner. Venturing outside, all the necessities are right on your doorstop, from ATMs, a bureau de change, a pharmacy, local food stores, a butcher, a Monoprix supermarket open til 10pm, lovely restaurants and a range of boutique stores. Although not expensive, it feels like an up-market area. Just around the corner is the historic Place des Vosges which was the perfect place for our son to let off steam on its see-saws, slide, climbing frames and sand boxes. Another advantage is the appartment's close proximity to Saint Paul metro station, which, being on line 1, gives direct access to many of Paris' main attractions, including the Rue de Rivoli, Chatelet-les-Halles, the Louvre, the Jardins des Tuileries, Place de la Concorde and La Defense. Alexis was the perfect host, making us feel confident before we booked that we were in the hands of someone who cared about our needs and making sure while we were there that we knew how everything worked and the best places to go. We had no complaints whatsover about this appartment and have already recommended it to friends and family. It was the ideal location to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my wife's birthday and we will certainly be back the next time we visit Paris!
Excellent Stay!
The apartment was just as described online. Close to bakeries and cafe's and fresh-food markets. There is also a real grocery store very close (west of the apartment a block or two, downstairs in the Monoprix) so you can stock up the frig in the flat. The subway stop (Bastille) is a very close walk. However, we chose to walk to the River Seine, Notre Dame, Saint Chapelle, and the St. Michael Fountain, which are great destinations for Paris first-timers, like us.
The bathroom was fabulous. The tub was a great escape after a long day of walking. The kitchen was well outfitted with new dishes and nice cookware. The dining area and family rooms were great places to gather with your fellow travelers. Our two kids made themselves at home reading on the couch and floor rug.
The bedroom was cozy, nice and warm. Nice to read in bed as you wind down your day. If you have more than two people in your party be aware that the bedroom door has a glass pane in it which may detract from your privacy between the bedroom and living room.
Over all – super experience. We’d choose this place again when we come back!
Definite Joie
A joy to stay in this apartment. Exactly as advertised. My husband and I stayed 5 nights in mid-January 2012 for a birthday celebration. The location is wonderful as a neighborhood and perfect for getting anywhere in Paris. The Metro was so convenient we took it everywhere. It's a great walking neighborhood, there are interesting shops, including very high end dress shops and galleries, as well as many small museums nearby. The owner is a pleasure to deal with; all the arrangements were handled promptly and well, instructions were clear and complete, recommendations were spot on every time. There are so many intriguing markets, cheese shops, wine shops, and patisseries within just a few blocks, and it's especially nice to have the little market by the front door open late at night. You couldn't miss having a wonderful time in Paris with this as your home away from home.
Excellent accommodation in a great location
We stayed at this apartment for eight nights in October 2011 (three women 55+). The owner was very helpful from our first inquiry many months in advance, and the whole process was well-organised. The description and pictures in the listing gave an accurate impression of the apartment. We found the living area and bathroom spacious, and even the sofa bed was very comfortable - not a common experience! Above all we loved the location, which made it easy to get to all our favourite places in Paris.
Perfect Stay
We stayed for a quick weekend getaway, and the apartment was exactly as described and perfect as a home base to get around and to relax at the end of the day. The owners have thought of everything a guest could need, from the multiple guide books, to the extra pillows, blankets and towels, to the espresso machine with packs ready to go, to the printer for printing tickets and boarding passes. The apartment is beautifully furnished and very relaxing. And the neighborhood, of course, is a great jumping off point for seeing Paris -- easy walking distance to many popular tourist sites, around the corner from Place des Vosges, and on the 1 line with easy access to the whole city when you don't feel like walking any more. I've stayed in a couple of apartments before in Paris, and this was the nicest I've come across. I look forward to coming back.
Repeat Renters
Last year, my husband & I stayed at a different property with the same owner. We so enjoyed our stay, that we decided to book again this year. We tried this apartment instead and found it to be the right place for us to go and relax in Paris.
As a travel professional, I do not like to feel like a tourist. Staying here, gave me the true experience of a local, without sacrificing the relaxing feel that one gets at a good hotel.
I also want to say thanks to the owner who listened to my feedback from the previous stay. I had mentioned that some new reading lights in the bedroom would be nice. And, voila, there they were at the new place!
If you are like my husband and I (working professionals, with no kids), I think you will enjoy your stay!
A perfect spot for Contemporary Art Lovers
I lived in Paris for three years, so I have to say I've seen tons of places around, and NONE compares to this one! It's big, clean, comfortable and so trendy! We walked everywhere from there, and the train is just steps away.
The apartment has absolutely everything you could need, and the shower... oh the shower! a true home away from home, just as the owner describes it!
We are obsessed with contemporary art, and having lived in New York for over 6 years, we've been spoiled with only the best... therefore we love Le Marais and Bastille! It was awesome to be able to go out to a great bars and restaurants at night and be able to walk back to the apartment safely and quick. In Paris the train stops running at midnight and cabs are SO expensive and difficult to catch.
Around Le Marais you have the incomparable Centre Pompidou, with an impressive collection of contemporary art and countless photography and art galleries all around.
At Bastille you must visit Rue Lappe at night. Is a really tiny street with hip bars and restaurants galore! get there early because it really fills up quick...! One of our favorites is the beach themed "Bar des Ferrailleurs" (18 Rue Lappe) or "Megalo Bar" (6 Rue Lappe).
Near Bastille, if you walk towards Rue de Charonne, you will find the trendiest bookstores, bars and restaurants, filled with hip people... You gotta visit "The Lazy Dog" Bookstore (25 rue de Charonne, 75011) for awesome art books and prints, and when you're done go for a drink to "La Mecanique Ondulatoire" (8 Passage Thiere 75011) right around the corner, awesome music, you will have a great time!
What else can I say, this is only a few things of the many many activities in Paris... stay here and maximize the possibilities!
Delightful apartment and host!
We stayed at this apartment for five nights in October 2011. We are a family of four, with two children ages 8 and 6. First, I have to commend the owner for her exceptional hospitality, assistance, and overall "joie de vivre" in the rental process and preparing us for our Parisian apartment experience. From beginning to end, every interaction and transaction went off without a worry. This is an owner who takes great pride in her property and in the comfort and safety of her guests. Bravo!
The apartment itself is lovely - it is a quiet oasis on a busy thoroughfare in a very historic area of Paris. It is exceptionally comfortable and clean with new fixtures, new furniture and linens, new and very good appliances, and very fast wifi which we relied on for bookings, planning sightseeing, and staying in touch with family and friends. The bathroom is large, and the massive tub was a nice touch for the kids after long days on their feet. We also appreciated the powerful hair dryer provided as we discovered that using an American hair dryer with a voltage converter just didn't work that well.
The kitchen has everything needed to prepare all meals, and we routinely made breakfast in the apartment to save on eating out. There are markets (Monoprix, etc) within five minutes, not to mention boulangeries, fromageries, and other-ies close by. We used the clothes washer, and found that floor-to-ceiling towel warming rack in the bathroom was the ideal place to dry t-shirts, jeans, etc. The fold-out couch is very comfortable, and in fact we put the children in the bedroom on the large bed and we slept on the fold-out so that we could watch French TV at night and immerse ourselves in the language. It's worth mentioning that the couch is one of the most ingenious designs as it does not require one to remove the pillows in the folded-out mode. So cool.
The Bastille Metro stop is a 2 minute walk from the front door, and that's with two kids and a stroller. It connects you to everywhere in Paris, and the Metro is far more useful, efficient, and clean than the subway we are used to in San Francisco. But Paris is a walking city - if our children weren't with us, we might have walked everywhere - it's just the thing to do in Paris. Also, taxis are everywhere, and I found them to be more reasonably priced than what I've seen in US metro areas.
I highly recommend this apartment and owner, and would happily stay here again!
Fabulous 50th Birthday
What a fabulous find this was! We went to Paris as a couple celebrating a 50th birthday. The apartment is in a great neighborhood and about two blocks from a major and convenient metro line (Bastille), which is on the #1 line. From this metro stop, we went everywhere, often without switching trains: the Louvre, the Grand Palais, and the Champs Elysee (and we could walk to the Louvre, too, which we did). We typically walked to the Pompidou Center (Beaubourg), Ile de le Cite (Notre Dame Cathredral), and Ile St. Louis (great restaurants, art and clothing).
The apartment is located within a few blocks of good grocery and wine stores, clothing stores and anything else you might need. My wife liked the clothing stores; I gravitated toward the wine. The shopkeepers nearby were all incredibly friendly. (Go to the Nicolas down the street; he recommended a terrific Cabernet at a very, very good price.)
The apartment is much more spacious than we would have expected for an apartment in Paris or, for that matter, from the pictures we viewed in advance on the Web site. The kitchen was great to cook and eat in, with all state-of-the-art appliances. The owner left us excellent and easy-to-follow instructions for everything from how to work the washing machine and cappuccino machine, to how late the local stores are open. The bed was really comfortable and the bedroom was perfect for our needs. The bathroom was spacious and we loved the shower! It is a great value for what you get. Compared to what we paid for similar space in a hotel nearby for two nights, this apartment was far and away the better deal.
This was truly a great find and a wonderful way to spend a romantic week in Paris. My wife and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in Paris and we would reserve another week there without any hesitation.
Our Special Anniversary in Paris
The two of us celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary in Paris and we couldn't have asked for a more romantic place to stay.
The apartment is very comfortable, and quiet. A virtual oasis from our days of walking and sightseeing. The pictures online were exactly what we found. We loved our romantic breakfasts at "home" and having a relaxing place to put up our feet at the end of the day. It truly exceeded our expectations.
The apartment is in the heart of the Marais, a vibrant and exciting area of the city. It has everything you would want and need: close to Metro and city bus routes; surrounded by charming cafes and restaurants; nearby markets and a large grocery store; and all of the essential conveniences: washer/dryer; dishwasher; free phone service; and modern appliances. In addition to having lots of resource books on hand, before you arrive Alexis provides you with her own local favorites and quick tips. It is like you have lived there for years!
It's also a terrific value. In a Paris hotel this place would be billed out as a suite at a room rate that would be astronomical by comparison. Save the money on a hotel and spend it on yourselves! We did and had an unforgettable time!
two weeks in Paris
For two 70 year olds from Philadelphia playing at being Parisian, Alexis' apartment was ideal. We had always stayed in hotels before but never again. This was our 5th trip to Paris- a birthday celebration that proved to be wonderful. The location between two excellent bus and subway lines made exploration of the city very easy. Alexis was the most considerate and knowledgeable concierge/hostess I have had the pleasure to work with. She anticipated our needs before we even knew what they were. And when we had questions during our stay Alexis was quick to respond.
The apartment was even better than the descriptions provided in that it was very clean and odor free. important to an allergy prone person like myself. The bed was excellent as was the shower. We also loved the nespresso coffee machine.
I don't like small enclosures so opted for the stairs rather than the elevator which did not prove to be a problem. Rather, taking the stairs allowed me to rationalize eating so many baguettes.
Paris is Paris. One can't go wrong visiting this great city. Living in an apartment in Le Marais only enhanced our experience. The neighborhood restaurants, cheese shops ,and patisseries were excellent. The Bastille Market was fantastic and I recommend it for any visitors. After two weeks we were starting to feel like natives and were so sorry to return home. Also, nearly everyone speaks a little bit of English, these days.
Would definitely rent this apartment again when we return.
Thanks again Alexis for making our stay so pleasurable.
With Thanks....
If you are wanting a beautiful, central place to stay in Paris when you visit, both my husband and I, believe this apartment is the one for you. There is plenty of room to relax and feel at home. The apartment is not only very well equipped but very tasteful and decorated with elegance. The website also described everything accurately. My husband and I felt it was a great location to reside in also and the Bus number 69 is a treat!. Alexis has thought of everything and was extremely easy to deal with which made it feel like we were old "friends" Alexis helped with so many things with numerous questions through out the booking process and even after we arrived in Europe. What a great person to deal with. We would highy recommend Alexis's Apartment for your stay in Paris as it really helped make it memorable for us and will return when we return to Paris. Thank you
Perfect for a family of 4 with teens!
We have 2 teenage daughters and we just returned from a 2 week trip to France where we stayed 7 nights at this lovely apartment. Everything was as advertised and worked perfectly! The "Nespresso" lattes in the morning were a must have, and when you run out, you can get the pods at Monoprix but don't buy the Monoprix brand as they do not work well, there is another brand "Cafe Maison" that work very well. The bakery near by is also a "must" every morning for pastries or fresh bread. As well every Sunday and Thursday the Bastille Market must not be missed! Definitely one of our highlights was visiting this market and really soaking in the Parisian life. You have to try the crepes at this market half way down on the right side as you enter you can't miss it, as it will be the busiest crepe vendor there, and for good reason, they are tasty.
The property is well situated in a residential area and when we arrived they were doing some construction right out in front of the building for about a block or so. There was jack hammering etc... here's the amazing thing, once you got into the apartment you couldn't hear a thing! The quietness impressed me the most, allowing you to get your rest after those long museum days.
Alexis was amazing and very good with communicating to us what we needed to know, as well the books and info in the apartment were also invaluable The apartment is well furnished and very roomy, I cannot say enough positive things about it, and is ideal for families who need room!
Thank you so much Alexis, we hope to return next year!
Parisian Family Vacation
Beautiful, clean and well maintained apartment in an excellent location. The owners were very helpful before and during our stay, and we would recommend this to friends and family.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Traveling with two young children, we particularly appreciated the central location - we were within walking distance to the Bastille, Notre-dame-de-Paris, La Siene, Centre Pompidou, and numerous other locations which were a short bus-ride away (Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Eiffel Tower). Being walking distance to the Metro (subway) made it easier when going on excursions further away (Versailles). There are numerous bakeries and stores on the street which makes food shopping very convenient. All in all a great place to stay in Paris!
Beautiful apartment, beautiful neighborhood, great owner.
This was the MOST comfortable and well set up vacation apartment we have ever stayed in! We are a small family (two adults and one child) and the apartment was perfect for us! The beds were great, the linens were beautiful and it was nice to have well designed objects around. The spotless bathroom really is enormous for Paris and it made our ten days much much easier! The neighborhood shops are wonderful: great wine, great food and lovely small ateliers are all within blocks. The woman who greeted us and brought us to the apartment was lovely and Alexis, the owner, was straightforward, warm and great to communicate with. Our trip to Paris was beyond what we had hoped for!
A beautiful, well-equipped apartment & a lovely hostess
Travelling with my husband and two children (1 and 3), we rented this apartment for our first visit to Paris. Even before we arrived Alexis was friendly, thorough, and always prompt in her communication. Leading up to our visit she provided us with some great Paris tips, which were invaluable during our stay. Upon arrival we were pleased to find the apartment exactly as shown in the pictures. It is beautifully decorated and has excellent features such as the high end kitchen appliances and the luxurious bathroom. It was a dream for us to be able to let the kids play in the soaker tub after a long trip (and at the end of long sight seeing days throughout the trip). Since we were travelling with little ones, the well equipped kitchen and the laundry facilities in the apartment were also a highlight for us. Other little things like the dvd player that accepted foreign dvds, the elevator for trips upstairs with tired children, and the convenience store next door for milk etc...these were all excellent features! The location of the apartment was great. We were happy that the apartment faced on to a quiet courtyard and were not disturbed at night, and yet we were right in the heart of the lively and very safe Marais. Even with small children, we felt safe walking around the Marais after dark. The children also enjoyed the playgrounds nearby. The small park at the Place des Vosges was a favourite for us, and only a few minutes walk from the apartment. Transportation was never an issue. We were pleased that the metro stop as well as the hop on hop off bus tour were only a short walk away at Le Bastille. Our trip to Paris and our stay in this apartment was a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!
A home away from home in a great location!
This was our 1st visit to Paris, 2 adults & 2 children, ages 16 & 12. This was the PERFECT apartment for us to spread out, relax, and grab a bagueete for breakfast. The apt is well equipped, cozy & very comfortable. Old World charm with modern conveniences. The apt is exactly as described & shown in the photos. GREAT location, close to the Metro & bus lines. Lots of useful info in the apt for tourists, including dining, maps, etc. Alexis graciously answered my numerous questions through out the booking process & even stepped up to the plate to help us with some other issues we had regarding our travel plans in arriving from London. We would highy recommend this apt for your stay in Paris. Thank you, Alexis!
Dreamy Apartment in a Perfect Location!!
Amazing Apartment in an amazing neighborhood!! My 17 year old daughter and I spent 5 heavenly nights in this apartment last week and will definitely rent again. The apartment itself is beautiful and has every creature comfort imaginable. The espresso machine was a highlight – easy to make DELICIOUS lattes every morning – what a treat! The bathtub and shower were outstanding – total luxury! The kitchen (it had every utensil imaginable) was immaculate (loved the toaster too), it has lovely big airy windows that look out into an adorable courtyard. There was plenty of closet space for both of us. The washing machine and drying rack were so convenient and allowed us to pack light and do a quick load of laundry mid week. There are detailed, easy to understand instructions on how to use everything in the apartment, which we appreciated very much! We shopped in the neighborhood for fresh fruit and cheese to keep in the apartment for breakfast every day and each morning walked across the street to the bakery for a fresh baguette - SO convenient and yummy!! Right up the street is St. Paul’s square which is a great area to hang out in the evenings – just sitting and listening to music. The bus stop just to the left of the front door and is on bus route 69 which is the BEST BUS ROUTE to see all of the major sights and the metro is extremely close as well (although we loved using the bus). Pompidou Centre is an extraordinary modern art museum just a few blocks away. Alexis, the owner, was extremely helpful and made the rental process smooth and enjoyable. Her recommendations for shopping/restaurants, etc. were spot on! We actually moved to a hotel near the Eiffel Tower for our last 2 nights in Paris and regretted not staying in this apartment longer! Wonderful place – highly recommend!!
Perfect for longer stays as well
My wife and I had the good fortune of spending two weeks in this apartment and found it to be the perfect home base for a relaxing holiday. The location is phenomenal for sightseeing with plenty of things to do within a ten minute walk, including strolling the Seine and catching a glimpse of Notre Dame. You could also easily spend a week eating every meal at a different cafe without ever setting foot on the Metro.
Perhaps even better, you can spend a quiet day at home living as the typical Parisian might: visiting the outdoor market or nearby Monoprix to pick up the day's groceries, stopping by one of the two boulangeries across the street for a baguette, and grabbing a cheap bottle of wine from the little alimentation next door (which, mind-bogglingly, is open until 1AM and on Sundays)! The kitchen is great for cooking with its high end appliances. Just make sure you don't pick up anything that can't be prepared on the stove or in the oven since there is no microwave.
In short, you can't go wrong with this apartment. We'll absolutely be back next time we find ourselves in Paris.
Magical week in Paris
My adult daughter and I wanted to have a stress free holiday in Paris and this was exactly what we experienced. The apartment was just about perfect - wonderful location in a very safe area with easy access to bakeries, groceries, pharmacies, restaurants and shopping. My best memories will be of strolling the lovely old cobblestone streets of the Marais with the option of dining at one of the many restaurants nearby or bringing something home to the apartment to enjoy at our leisure. Everything we have at home is available in the apartment which made it so much better than a hotel. Alexis' warm welcome and clear communication made the entire vacation a pleasure, not to mention the charming and beautifully decorated apartment itself. Highly recommended.
Hostess with the mostess!
We recently stayed in this exquisite hideaway while visiting Paris for the first time and loved both the apartment and the location! On arrival there were fresh flowers and a bottle of wine, which after our long journey was quite welcome! The apartment was exactly as advertised, with all the amenities including an expresso bar, dishwasher and washing machine. The apartment was very quiet as it faces away from the main street, and everything in the apartment was pristine. Bathrobes and shower gels were a very nice touch, as anyone who travels alot can appreciate!
Alexis was amazing at answering all our questions and providing tips on places to shop and dine. The Bastille market, Sunday and Thursday, has excellent produce, fish, seafood and meats, which we loaded up on. We also found another market (meat, fish, veggies, cheese & a flea market outside) in the 11th quarter just a few blocks away which is open daily, so if you miss the Bastille you can still stock up! It's just 3 blocks east of the Bastille, unfortunately I seem to have misplaced the address, but it is not hard to find!
The Marais is an excellent area and we did not find the prices out of line, however if you wandered over to the 11th, prices dropped substantially! The apartments locations is excellent as it just 2 blocks to the metro and a short walk to the river where you can grab a water bus, which we loved given the excellent weather when we were there.
I would highly recommend this apartment, or any that Alexis has available! She is an excellent hostess and provides all the creature comforts one wants! Thank you again Alexis for a memorable first visit to Paris! We will definitely be back, and will of course look to Alexis for accomodations!
The Perfect Location
the apartment was everything described and more! The renovations were great...first class bothroom with shower and tub, a real double bed, modern refrigerator, stove and espresso plus a washing machine! while the apartment had a "lift" we never used it other than to transport our luggage up and down. the steps on the second floor are easily take even by us in our late 50's. the location was within easy walking distance of isle St. Louis and Notre Dame and a 15-25 minute walk to the Louvre. great restaurants, bakeries, and cheese shoppes right outside our door. we wanted to experience Paris as if we lived there and this apartment and location made that possible. very quiet and safe! plus alexis was exceptional at communicating and making sure everything was perfect...the welcome flowers and bottle of wine was very much appreciated.
